TAIL TWISTER'S CORNER 75 YEARS AGO...
Our club was chartered 75 years ago in 1943. Let's take a trip down memory lane and look at what was going on in the world when the Club was founded!
- The president was Franklin Delano Roosevelt
- The United States was fighting on two fronts in WWII... so much happened that year!
- If you had a job you could expect to make an average of $2,000.00 a year A Joke from Lion George: "Gas Prices" - A gallon of gas would set you back 15 cents
Two blondes* are filling up at a gas - The Pentagon building was finally finished, station and the first blonde says to the at a cost of about $83 million second, "I bet these awful gas prices are going to go even higher. - The musical, Oklahoma!, debuted on Broadway
The second blonde replies, "Won't - Chevy Chase, Janice Joplin, Robert De Niro, affect me, I always put in just $10 and Mick Jagger were born worth." - The Golden Globes premiered and The Song of Bernadette won best picture
- The #1 song was Paper Doll by the Mills Brothers
- Families gathered around their radios to listen to the Fireside Chats, Chick Carter, Boy Detective, and The Durante-Moore Show.

*A Note from Lion Maureen: Lion George recently commented in an email: "You said you don't mind blonde jokes, so here is one..." My response: There is no such think as a dumb blonde; Just cheap imitations! Keep the blonde jokes coming!
