CAPTAIN MOHAMMAD WASEEM MAQSOOD, (G), BCGM, psc, BN Principal, Marine Fisheries Academy, Chattgoram

Captain Mohammad Waseem Maqsood, (G), BCGM, psc, BN was born on 22 August 1971. After completing his Higher Secondary School in 1988, he joined Navy on 01 July 1989. He was graduated from Bangladesh on 01 January 1992 and achieved graduation on Science from the University of , Bangladesh. He did naval warfare course in School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics. He did Staff Course in 2006 in Bangladesh and achieved the Masters in Defence Studies in 2006 from National University, Bangladesh. He is also graduated from Naval War College of USA in 2009. He is specialized on naval weapons of surface ships.

Captain Waseem has prolonged experiences of serving at sea in different types of Ships. He served onboard ships in various appointments like Navigating Officer in Patrol Craft, Gunnery Officer in and also Executive Officer of Mine Sweeper and BN Frigate BNS UMAR FAROOQ. He commanded number of Bangladesh Navy Ships ranging from Fast Attack Craft, Offshore Patrol Vessel to BN BNS SOMUDRA JOY and SOMUDRA AVIJAN. In shore appointments, he served as Operations Officer to Commodore Commanding Khulna, Fleet Commander and also in Naval Operations Directorate. His appointments in different training institutions like Officer – in – Charge of Gunnery School, Directing Staff of Junior Staff Course, Training Commander of Bangladesh Naval Academy and Commander of Operational Sea Training Group. He commanded Flying wing of Naval Aviation as CO Flying Wing and East Zone of Bangladesh Coast Guard as Zonal Commander. He also served in the United Nations as Military Observer in Sudan in 2007. He participated in few international naval exercises with BN ships in , Indonesia and as Commanding Officer.
