EVENING

1 N^ •i. y.-v- To be Retained

- Please keep this to remind you of your visit to Westminster Abbey You are entering a famous Church which contains the memorials of many generations of men. You cannot help being a Sight seer in such a place, and we welcome you. But, first and foremost, the Abbey is a House of God, where worship has been offered continuously for over 900 years. Every day the Holy Conimunion is celebrated here. Every day Morning and Evening Prayer are said or sung. _*.;:. WE ASK YOU as you walk around to remeoiber that you are on holy ground Jf& behave with reverence to speak quietly. Do not forget to look up very often if you wish to see the glory of tins Church. Behind the High Altar is the Shrine of St. Edward, King and Confessor. As you enter St. Edward's Chapel, be w lie spirit of a pilgrim and pray, as all the English Saints have prayed, that CHRIST may be our King. It is most likely that you will go into the South Transept and Poets' Corner. At the far end of this Transept is ST. FAITH'S CHAPEL, reserved for private prayer. Here you can have quiet ness. Enter in, think and thank and pray. If you return to the Great West Door you will see on your left, at the end of the Nave, another Chapel, dedicated to St. George. The fights are burning and symbolically the open Bible is on i the Altar. You will find overleaf some words of prayer which will perhaps help you. The Dean and Chapter of Westminster wish you peace and happiness.

PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK THE VERGERS FOR ANY INFORMATION. THEY ARE HERE TO HELP YOU.

The small charge which has to be made to see some parts of the Abbey, goes only a little way to meet the costs of maintaining the building \ and its services. We know you will help to the best of your ability. i«am«if.fMi 0 God of all the nations of the earth, 1 pray, trusting in the help of thy Holy Spirit, for the Church of England for all the Churches of God for all Christians for all other faiths for all nations for all men.

Forgive us, renew us in righteousness, unite us, give us peace in the doing of thy will, through Jesus Christ our Lord who came to give us life abundant here and glory hereafter. Amen.
