AV Brace ABOUT YOUR JUDGES Les Strudwick I have owned dogs for some 35 years and started by doing obedience work with German Shepherds, my wife then wished to move into showing and we changed breeds to Leonbergers which we now show and breed, we also own and show Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. I have been Judging for 12 years and award CC’s in Leonbergers, at open shows I have judged many breeds which I enjoy greatly. I have been involved with the running of Clubs and Societies, I am the Chairman of Boston & District Canine Society which hold a Championship Show in January and a Premier Open Show in May. Ellen Sullivan (Navillus) I had my first Bearded Collie in 1981 and I have shared my life with 11 Beardies to date. I have also had a GSD, a cross Beardie and I currently also have a Papillon. All of my dogs live in the house and are much loved family pets first and foremost. I started showing my first Beardie the same year I had her, though she wasn't bought to show. We had a lot of fun and met some lovely friends through showing, some of which are still friends today. My affix, Navillus, came following the arrival of my first 'showgirl' in 1998; she was also to become my foundation bitch. She taught me a lot about dogs, and produced two out of the current tally of six Stud Book Numbers I have gained since then. All of my SBN's have been from descendents of this lovely Beardie lady. I judged for the first time in 1990 at an Exemption Show level (now Companion Show), and judged many such shows until I felt confident enough to dip my toe in at Open Show level in 2002. I was offered my first Open Show appointment to be carried out on 18 May 2002, my birthday! I have since jumped through all the Kennel Club hoops and I was passed in 2012 to award CC's in Bearded Collies, my first set being at Southern Counties in 2013. I have judged many breeds in the pastoral group and several in the working group and I can honestly say I have learnt something new from every judging appointment I have undertaken ... I have no plans to stop learning any time soon! I have been an active member of the Bearded Collie Club Committee since 2002, and I currently hold the positions of Show Secretary and Yearbook Editor, since 2004 and 2008 respectively, and I have no intention of hanging those boots up for a while to come! It will be an honour to judge Pwllheli and District Canine Society's Open Show in 2013, and I will carry out this responsibility with honesty and integrity, and to the very best of my ability. Carol Moore (Gadehlic) I have been associated with dogs and livestock all my life but I began with Gordons in 1980 handling for a friend. My first Gordon Setter was purchased in 1985 and I have been on the show scene ever since. Although my affix of Gadhelic was acquired in 1987 I have only bred a few litters of Gordons, producing a UK Show Champion, 4 RCC winners, 2 Show Certificate of Merit winners, a Junior Warrant winner, 2 Best Puppy in Show winners at a breed club Championship show and a Reserve Best Puppy in Show winner at a Gundog Show. My foundation bitch was SHCH Tanquerry The Vamp of Gadhelic who apart from winning her title also won BIS at a Gundog Show, a feat repeated by her granddaughter Gadhelic Welsh Gold ShCM.. I have awarded CC’s in the UK on 4 occasions and judged at the equivalent of a breed Championship show in Holland. At Open show level I have judged most Gundog Breeds and have achieved B list qualification in Labradors, Field Spaniels, Irish Setters and Irish Red & White Setters, I am also on the C list for American Cocker Spaniels and Cocker Spaniels. I have judged the Gundog Group on a number of occasions at Open Shows and varieties and BIS at an all breeds show. Vanessa Williams-Wegmann (Essvana) Vanessa Williams’’ had her first Shih-Tzu in 1980 and was immediately hooked. Her first open show judging appointment was in 1987. Vanessa has a wide interest in many breeds both as a Judge and Exhibitor and is a Member of The Kennel Club. A former General Open Show Secretary and active committee member in Dogs & Chairperson of Parent Teachers Association at her son’s School. Vanessa has owned and shown a variety of breeds : Boston Terrier, GSD, Great Dane, Rottweiler, Dobermann, Akita, Shih-Tzu, Irish Wolfhound, Chihuahua; and has obtained Stud Book Numbers, CC’s, RCC's, and Junior Warrant. Is very proud to have a new Shih-Tzu Champion in 2012. Vanessa has a wide interest in varying breeds of dogs, is passed to award CC’s in 8 Breeds plus The Utility Group at Championship Shows. She has judged all over the UK, Channel Islands, Ireland and Europe. Vanessa lives in Rural Gloucestershire where she and her husband Peter recently trained NH Racehorses. Vanessa is the hectic and proud mother of 5.5 year old Henry. Vanessa’s dog showing/judging are an important part in her life but she is a busy bee and hobbies include drama, singing, reading, zumba, gym & aerobics, a bit of sailing, gardening, swimming, horse riding, ski-ing, ice-skating, playing scrabble and shopping for shoes!

Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the show management. 14. No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 15. All dogs resident outside the U.K. must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete Number before entry to the show can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor. 17. Dogs in Cars on Hot Days Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. • When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. • If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. • Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade – take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. • Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Right to Refuse Entries. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry. 18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 19. The Committee of this show cannot be held responsible for products advertised or sold by standholders at the show, and remind exhibitors that such products may not meet the requirements of the Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 20. Parents/Guardians please note, well behaved children are welcome but those in charge of children will be held fully responsible for their actions and any damage caused within the environs of the show. 21. Remedial action will be taken if dogs which are left in cars are found to be in a distressed condition. 22. Owners, handlers, exhibitors or any other person in charge of a dog at a Kennel Club licenced event must ensure at all times that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licenced venue including its environs, car parks and approaches. 23. Soft Crates: The Kennel Club has drawn attention to the potential health and safety implications concerning the use of soft crates at shows as in its view, they do not offer sufficient protection to dogs. Soft crates left unattended at the ringside are a potential hazard particularly when occupied by large breeds, and it has been known for dogs to become distressed and move soft crates along the floor and also escape. Soft crates should only be used when there is sufficient room available and when they can be safely secured. 24. Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification and should note that the original exhibit/bench number card, as provided by the show society, must not be used for this purpose.

Dog Fouling F8 (a) Any owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including the car and caravan parks and approaches. The Society will arrange for the dispersal of suitable receptacles to assist compliance with regulation F8(a). Attraction of Exhibits F(1) 17f The attracting of exhibits by any method from outside the ring is prohibited. It is the duty of the judge steward or show management noticing such attraction to ask that it ceases. REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F (B)
