DANISH IMPORT RESTRICTIONS
Modifications of the Restrictions
The following information has been supplied by the Danish delegation: 1. In conformity with Executive Order of 13 September 1961 by the Ministry of Commerce coarse grains and related products were replaced under import control. As explained in the Committee on Balance-of- Payments Restrictions on 30 October 1961 (of. document L/1617, para- graph 23), this step was considered necessary in order to limit bacon production in Denmark and thus the exportable quantities to the United Kingdom market.
2. The temporary ban on the import of these products was subsequently discontinued, with effect from 17 November 1961, when prices on Danish grown coarse grains had reached the level equal to c.i.f. prices of imported coarse grains covered by the Grain Act.
3. In conformity with Executive Order of 10 October 1961 by the Ministry of Commerce the free list area was extended as from 1 November 1961 by the countries indicated in the enclosed list.1 Hereafter both the Danish free list and the prevailing regional quotas for restricted commodities are applicable to the countries in question.
