July & August 2019 North & Central Newsletter

There are lots of activities going on across the different areas and new ones such as Yoga in Ellon, Pop up café in and Laura our Dementia Advisor having a few surgeries. Just to let you know a couple of goodbyes and hellos. Sarah Howe is leaving us today as she’s moving. I know she will be missed and has done a great job in Central and South Aberdeenshire. We will be joined by a new Dementia Advisor in July: Margaret Corbett so welcome to Mags when she starts. Anouk is also leaving us at the end of July to continue with her busy counsellor work and other plans. We are also recruiting for a 21 hour activity organiser in Central There have been some changes to the management structure in & Aberdeenshire & Moray so that the whole area will be covered by a Locality Leader. It is not something I want to do so I’ve opted for redundancy. I want to reassure you this has no effects on the groups or other services we provide. They will continue with the lovely staff who provide them now. I have worked for Alzheimer for 20 plus years and loved every minute and enjoyed all the work we do to support people living with dementia and their carers and meeting all of you and colleagues. Now it’s time for me to wind down a bit and spend more time doing the many interests I have from my animals to soap making and gardening and training my dogs. I will find plenty to do I’m sure and my husband has already warned me not to be involving him in my activities. I will be around till the end of August / September so will probably see some of you at groups before I go but if I don’t I wish you all the best. I’m having my older dog, Otto assessed as a PAT Therapy dog so you never know you may see me around.

Banff & Update Hi All Hope you're all well Doesn't time fly if you're having fun, just a few bits of news for the Banff/Turriff area. You will notice that we no longer have Golf at the Myrus, this is mainly due to the closure of the Café. We are however delighted to announce that Macduff Library has agreed to let us have an extra Curling and Cake. This will be on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, 3-4.30 pm. Sadly we had to cancel our visit to the Toy museum last month, Emily the Owner was unwell, hopefully she is feeling much better and we will try again for 26th of August. We are in the process of applying for funding to Tesco so we can organise some Yoga sessions in the Banff/Turriff area, this has proved to be very popular in other areas.
