Photo: Øystein Grue Time for trains The past year marked the 150th anniversary of the railways in Norway and proved a worthy celebration. Punctuality has never been better, rail traffic is growing, and in summer 2004 the Norwegian Parliament took the historic decision to invest NOK 26.4 billion in developing a competitive rail network over the ten years from 2006 to 2015. In other words, the anniversary year not only provided the opportunity for a nostalgic look back, but also confirmed that the railways will continue to play a central role in the years ahead. In line with Parliament’s decision, value our good working relationship with autumn 2005. This brings us one step clo- Jernbaneverket has drawn up an action the trade unions. The Report assesses the interest rate outlook and includes projections for developments in the Norwegian economy, analyses of selected themes and a summary of Norges Bank’s regional network reports. At its meeting on 3 September, the Executive Board discussed relevant themes for the Report. At the Execu- tive Board meeting on 15 October, the economic outlook was discussed. On the basis of this discussion and a recommendation from Norges Bank’s management, the Executive Board adopted a monetary policy strategy for the period to the publication of the next Report on 25 March 2009 at the meeting held on 29 October. The Executive Board’s summary of the economic outlook and the monetary policy strategy are presented in Sec- tion 1. In the period to the next Report, the Executive Board’s monetary policy meetings will be held on 17 December, 4 February and 25 March. -

In winter, Norway has a wide range of alpine ski centres, both for beginners and more experienced skiers. Naturally, there are also opportunities for cross-country skiing trips on prepared, marked tracks.
