NORWAY - in Your Pocket 2 | 3 NORWAY - In Your Pocket 2 | 3 BE INSPIRED BY NORWAY TO HAVE AN ACTIVE HOLIDAY Walking from cabin to cabin in the mountains or going on a glacier walk is perhaps the best way to explore Norway. If you like cycling, there are lots of great routes to choose from, whether you prefer flat terrain or more challenging routes. There are lots of package trips including food and accommodation to choose from. There are also plenty of options for people who enjoy fishing. Try your hand at deepsea fishing, salmon fishing or freshwater fishing and you will have a good chance of landing a big fish. On a safari, you can see wild animals and birds at close range, including musk oxen, moose, eagles, whales and king crabs. Or how about a challenge like rafting down rapids, climbing or snowkiting? There are many customised trips to choose from in Norway – on foot, by bike, boat or car. They enable you to get the most out of your holiday. In winter, Norway has a wide range of alpine ski centres, both for beginners and more experienced skiers. Naturally, there are also opportunities for cross-country skiing trips on prepared, marked tracks. Winter is also the season for killer whale safaris, ice- climbing, dog sledding and reindeer sledding. Grandominert skog dekker i dag 32,4 mill. dekar.

  • Measuring the Inaccurate: Causes and Consequences of Train Delays
Summary: Measuring the inaccurate: Causes and consequences of train delays TØI Report 1459/2015 Author(s): Askill Harkjerr Halse, Vegard Østli and Marit Killi Oslo 2015, 71 pages Norwegian language In this report, we argue that the rich available data on train performance and railway infrastructure should be used to get precise measurements of economic relationships in railway management. As one such exercise, we first show how temporary speed reductions on railway links caused by low infrastructure quality affects running time and delays for Norwegian freight trains. Even though each speed reduction only adds about 44-50 seconds to running time, speed reductions still contribute to delay at the destination. Secondly, we show that delays has a negative effect on demand for passenger and freight trains services. The corresponding demand elasticity is lower than the one implied by willingness-to-pay studies, consistent with evidence from Great Britain. In is widely acknowledged in the transportation economics literature that more reliable transport time constitutes an economic benefit. In the presence of unreliability, individuals and firms adjust by taking costly measures like departing early or keeping a safety stock of goods. The ‘cost’ of train delays is therefore the foregone benefits that could have been achieved if all trains were running on time. Much of the existing literature on railway punctuality is based on optimization and/or simulation, calling for more empirical studies. In the innovation project PRESIS, funded by the Research Council of Norway and the Norwegian National Rail Administration, we have developed methods to survey reliability in the Norwegian rail sector.

  • Høringsuttalelse Til Forskrift Om Kommunalt Løypenett for Snøskuter I Bardu Kommune

• Norway Norway Is Considered the Most Scenic Country in Scandinavia and Offers a Wide Range of Land- Scapes
Crossing Longfjell Bridge over Eidfjord Norway Norway is considered the most scenic country in Scandinavia and offers a wide range of land- scapes. Mighty glaciers created over millions of years numerous deep fjords and bays, so water will be our constant companion on the tour. More than ten times we are crossing by ferry one of the picturesque fjords and pass hundreds of water- falls and raging rivers. Again and again it goes from sea level up to the fells, as the plateaus of Norway are called. Dense forests are also on the program as one or the other island and skerry along the coast. Dozens of tunnels are carved in the rock, including the Laerdalstunnelen, with nearly 25 km the world’s longest road tunnel. With the Holmenkollen we visit the Mecca of the Nordic winter sports and cross Telemark, in this county the skiing was invented over 150 years ago. At Norway’s most famous waterfall Vor- ingsfossen we spend a night, over 180 meters the water plunges into the depths. And the Gei- rangerfjord and Norway’s best known mountain road Trollstigvegen are other musts on the tour before we are back in Oslo.
