Gallaudet Private Institution | ~2,000 Students Accessible & Inclusive Study Abroad Program in China was awarded a U.S. Department of State Capacity Building for Study Abroad Grant in 2012. As the world’s only university specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students, Gallaudet utilized the grant funding to create an accessible and inclusive study abroad program for various academic disciplines at Beijing Union University (BUU) in China. To date, the grant funding and resulting program have assisted over 50 students, faculty, and staff to travel to and study at BUU, while also helping to establish a bi-lateral partnership that has enabled BUU students to study at Gallaudet in Washington, D.C.
