The list is organized by state and alphabetically by school within each state. Students use these codes to apply for financial aid on Free Application for Federal Student Aid (EAFSA) forms or on the Web, entering the name of the school and its Federal Code for schools that should receive their information. FSA FEDERAL STUDENT AID SlJh4MARY: The Federal School Code List of Participating Schools for the 2004-2005 Award Year. Dear Partner, We are pleased to provide the 2004-2005 Federal School Code List. This list contains the unique codes assigned by the Department of Education to schools participating in the Title N student aid programs. The list is organized by state and alphabetically by school within each state. Students will use these codes to apply for financial aid using a 2004-2005 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), 2004-2005 Renewal FAFSA, 2004-2005 FAFSA on the Web, or 2004-2005 Renewal FAFSA on the Web application. The FAFSA instructs students to enter the name and Federal School Code for the schools that should receive their information. Students can check with their financial aid office, high school guidance counselor, or the public library to look up the Federal School Code. Use of the Federal School Code will significantly improve the student's ability to communicate college identifications accurately, will avoid errors caused by confusion over similar college names, and speed application processing time. Please make this list available to students. Sincerely, General ~zya~erfor Students Federal Student Aid 830 First Street, NE, Washington, D.C. 20202 1 -800-4-FED-AID www.studentaid.ed.gov 3 USING THE FEDERAL SCHOOL CODE LIST The Federal School Code List that follows is intended as a resource for anyone who is completing a 2004-2005 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), 2004-2005 Renewal FAFSA, 2004-2005 FAFSA on the Web, or 2004-2005 Renewal FAFSA on the Web application. When answering 2004-2005 FAFSA college name and address questions, applicants should use the official Federal School Code and name found in this list to ensure fast and accurate processing. You can also use the on-line search on the FAFSA on the Web site at: http://fafsa.ed.gov/fotw0405/fslookup.htm All postsecondary schools that are currently eligible for Title IV aid and signed up to participate electronically are listed in the Federal School Code List, with each school's official Federal School Code, name, and address. The schools are listed first by state and then alphabetically by name within each state. Procedures for completing the FAFSA college name and address question are listed below. For each school that applicants wish to list in question 86, 88,90,92,94, and 96 of the 2004- 2005 FAFSA, do the following: Find the correct state of the desired school, using the appropriate state name. Find the exact name and address of the desired school within the state listing. Names of schools may be similar. Please be certain you have ffoowd the exact school name and address before proceeding. On the FAFSA, write the name of the school under "Name of college." The name must exactly match the one you have found in the Federal School Code List. Write the six-character Federal School Code in the spaces provided under the "Federal School Code." You do mot have to include the address. Indicate housing plans for each school according to the directions on the FAFSA. Repeat procedures 1 - 5 for each desired college, up to a maximum of six. Please note that if the Federal School Code or name for a desired school is listed incorrectly on your FAFSA, processing may be delayed. The following are the current code types: 0 (zero) - Participate in the Pel1 Grant program, as well as Direct Loan, FFEL, or Campus- based programs G - Participate in the FFEL or Direct Loan, as well as Campus-based programs B - Participate in Campus-based programs E - An ED assigned code as an authorized branch campus Please note: The Federal School Code List is published once a year, with schools that are participating at the time of printing.
