AWAPEI is a non-profit organization. It unites all Aboriginal Women from across the Island representing many Aboriginal nations, sometimes spanning three or four generations. Since 1986, it has continued to build and strengthen aboriginal women from across Prince Edward Island in accordance with the vision: "Stronger Women Create Stronger Communities". AWAPEI is also our connection to the voice at the National level with our membership to Native Women's Association of . The membership gives Aboriginal Women many other opportunities, and a chance to share in the voice on a National level in Canada.

The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples (CAP) is one of five National Aboriginal Representative Organizations recognized by the Government of Canada. Founded in 1971 as the Native Council of Canada (NCC), the organization was originally established to represent the interests of Métis and non-status Indians. Reorganized and renamed in 1993, CAP has extended its constituency to include all off-reserve status and non-status Indians, Métis and Southern Aboriginal Peoples, and serves as the national voice for its provincial and territorial affiliate organizations.

Gignoo Transition House

Gignoo Transition House Inc. is the first and only First Nation safe house in New Brunswick that is comprised of 15 Mi’kmaq and Maliseet communities. They are a not for profit safe haven for First Nation women and children who are experiencing domestic violence; physical, sexual, emotional, mental, spiritual and financial. Gignoo, which means “our house” services all First Nation women and children, who are either on or off reserve, by helping them start their path to healing and eliminate the cycle of violence. Haven House is a native women’s shelter, a safe place, a refuge, for women and their children dealing with family violence. They provide a safe and comfortable place to stay for a limited time in crisis situations as well as counselling and emotional support. Haven House also provides information and referrals on legal aid, Social Services, police and other community resources.

The Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre is a non-profit, board governed organization that aims to improve the lives of Aboriginal peoples living in an urban environment through social and cultural programming. The Society strives to provide all services and programs in a context that acknowledges the rich artistic and spiritual traditions of our people, so as to facilitate cultural knowledge transfer in an urban aboriginal environment. The Society has an open door policy with all of their programs making their services available to all people.

The Native Alliance of Quebec promotes and represents the interests of Aboriginal people (Indians, Inuit and Métis) who live off reserve in Quebec.

Their goal is to operate and administer a strong and effective Aboriginal Peoples Representative Organization that serves, advocates and represents our community.

The Native Council of Prince Edward Island is a Community of Aboriginal People residing off- reserve in traditional Mi'kmaq territory. NCPEI is the self governing authority for all off-reserve Aboriginal people living on Epekwitk (PEI).

The goal of the NWSM is to provide a safe environment where women can begin to rebuild their lives. NWSM offer support and frontline services to First Nations, Inuit and Métis (Aboriginal) women and children to promote their empowerment and independence. The NWSM is the only women’s shelter in Montreal that provides services exclusively to Aboriginal women and their children.

The New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council (NBAPC), once called the New Brunswick Association of Metis and Non-Status Indians, is the voice for approximately 28,260 Status and Non-Status Aboriginal People who reside in the Province of New Brunswick. Their members are widely dispersed throughout the Province of New Brunswick in villages, towns, cities, and rural areas. They are people of Aboriginal Ancestry for whom NBAPC provides services, programs, and a political voice for their concerns.

The NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) is the representative governing body for approximately 6,000 Inuit of south and central Labrador, collectively known as the Southern Inuit of NunatuKavut.

Qalipu (Pronounced: ha-lee-boo, Meaning: Caribou) is a vibrant Mi’kmaq First Nation establishes in 2011 as an Indigenous Band under the Indian Act. With some 24,000 members spread across many communities both on the island and abroad, Qalipu is one of the largest First Nation groups in Canada.
