Position Summary: The Inventory Management / Cost Accountant is an experienced professional responsible for managing the complete inventory accounting function while maintaining and ensuring compliance with accounting policies, procedures and SOX controls. The incumbent will work closely with the operations department to determine usage, complete monthly inventory adjustments, and direct the periodic physical inventory counts for both on and offsite locations. The ideal candidate will have experience utilizing NetSuite, have an understanding of supply chain operations, data analytical skills and a strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX. The ability to build strong relationships is a must.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage the inventory accounting function consisting of the monthly/quarterly closing process including preparation of all journal entries, and monthly/quarterly reconciliations. • Maintain and ensure ongoing compliance with accounting policies, procedures & SOX Controls. • Inventory costing-Work closely with Operations to ensure Costed BOMS are up to date and accurate. • analysis-Calculate Inventory reserve Monthly/Quarterly • Work closely with internal departments to determine internal usage on a monthly basis • Work closely with operations to complete monthly inventory adjustments as needed • Assists with product line margin analysis. • Inventory Obsolescence • Ensure inventory items are setup appropriately in Netsuite, mapping to correct GL Accounts • Capitalization rules surrounding inventory accounting. • Ensure timely/accurate recording of Akoya owned inventory usage at contract manufacturer site. • Provide operations with monthly item detail inventory variance reports by contract manufacturer/warehouse site. • Collaborate with Operations Team on timely & accurate reconciliation of external inventory against internally tracked perpetual balances. • Assist in quarterly reviews and year-end • In conjunction with operations personnel, direct the periodic physical inventory counts for onsite and offsite locations, and coordinate as needed with internal and external auditors.

Skills & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a -related field • Three to 5 years of relevant experience • The ability to work closely with other departments to ensure completeness and accuracy of all accrued related to Inventory. • Knowledge of Supply Chain Operations • Data analytical experience • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SOX • Knowledge of NetSuite • Proficient in Excel • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to build relationships • Ability to meet deadlines • Strong attention to detail
