TUESDAY 2 AUGUST TELEVISION & RADIO HIGHLIGHTS / BBC WEEK 31 ______

River City Tuesday 2 August BBC One Scotland, 8.00 – 9.00pm bbc.co.uk/rivercity

This week in Shieldinch…Jimmy and Scarlett’s relationship hits rock bottom; Lenny gets fed up with Fraser; and Eileen goes on a date. Jimmy is late to pick up Madonna and it’s not going down well with Scarlett. She tells him he has to get himself a lawyer to sort out the divorce and until then he can’t see Madonna. Jimmy tries to apologise with flowers and, when Scarlett won’t answer the door, he lets himself in. This only enrages Scarlett further. She later gets her job back at the Ship and Jimmy overhears her agreeing to a shift later that afternoon. He demands to know who is looking after Madonna but Scarlett says it’s none of his business. However, she eventually backs down and tells Jimmy to pick Madonna up later – but he is once again late due a flat tyre. Scarlett is livid and says he has had his chance but he blew it. When Jimmy sees Christina babysitting Madonna later on he tells her Scarlett has given him the okay to take Madonna to the cinema. Christina gladly lets Jimmy have her – but when Scarlett finds out it’s only going to make the situation much worse. Lenny is keen to spend some quality time with Amber but Fraser keeps getting in the way. Lenny begins to suspect Fraser is doing it on purpose and tells him to back off or he will take his investment out of Heavenly Herbals. Fraser tells Amber about the threat and makes it sound more frightening than it actually was. Amber confronts her dad who is then backed in to making amends with Fraser. Lenny offers to pay Fraser a lot of money to go and get a fleet of cars that he wants for the business. Fraser accepts the peace offering – but probably isn’t the best person to send on such an important financial transaction. There’s a new man in town, Sandy, and Eileen has her sights firmly set on him. Sandy tells her he is in Shieldinch looking for property to invest in and Eileen assures him she can help him with her local knowledge. However, Zinnie is already annoyed at having to do menial tasks in the bar and decides to get back at Eileen by casually letting slip about Raymond and Stuart in front of Sandy. Sandy runs a mile but Raymond is soon putting him straight on their relationship.

Jimmy is played by Billy McElhaney, Madonna by Sienna Glackin, Scarlett by Sally Howitt, Christina by Caitlin Gillespie, Lenny by Frank Gallagher, Amber by Lorna Anderson, Fraser by Neil McNulty, Sandy by Robert Cavanah, Eileen by Deirdre Davis, Zinnie by Nalini Chetty and Raymond by Paul Samson.
