Die Autoren werden gebeten, Manuskripte als WORD-Dokument per mail oder auf CD an das LWL-Museum für Naturkunde zu senden: Schriftleitung „Abhandlungen“ Dr. Bernd Tenbergen LWL-Museum für Naturkunde Sentruper Straße 285 48161 Münster [email protected] Das Manuskript sollte folgenden Aufbau haben: Überschrift, darunter Name (ausge- schrieben) und Wohnort des Autors, Inhaltsverzeichnis, kurze Zusammenfassung in deutscher und ggf. englischer Sprache, klar gegliederter Hauptteil, Literaturverzeichnis (Autoren alphabetisch geordnet), Anschrift des Verfassers. Lateinische Art- und Gattungs- namen sind kursiv zu schreiben. Alle Autorennamen im Text sowie im Literaturverzeichnis sind in Kapitälchen (z. B. RUNGE, F. (1976)) zu schreiben. Alle Tabellen und Abbildungen (Karten, Zeichnungen, Fotos) müssen eine Verkleinerung auf Satzspiegelgröße (12,6 x 19,8 cm) zulassen. Sie sollten als druckfertige pdf- und/oder Bild-Dateien eingereicht werden. Alle Abbildungen und Tabellen sind zusammen mit den Bildunterschriften bzw. Tabellenüberschriften nicht nur im Text eingebunden, sonderen auch als gesonderte Datei beizufügen. Fotos sind möglichst digital (Auflösung 300 dpi) oder in schwarzweißen Hochglanzab- zügen vorzulegen. Bei Farbaufnahmen sollte darauf geachtet werden, dass diese in der Regel schwarzweiß gedruckt werden. Das Literaturverzeichnis ist nach folgendem Muster anzufertigen: IMMEL, W. Bei mehrern Autoren sind die Namen wie folgt zu nennen: MEYER, H.-J.., HUBER, A. & F. BAUER (2016): ..... Die Korrekturfahnen werden dem Autor in der Regel einmalig zugestellt. Korrekturen gegen das Manuskript gehen auf Rechnung des Autors. Für den Inhalt der Beiträge sind die Autoren allein verantwortlich. Der Autor bzw. das Autorenteam erhält 50 Sonderdrucke seines/ihres Beitrages kostenlos. Bei Sammelbänden erhalten die Autoren jeweils ein komplettes Exemplar und eine pdf- Datei des eigenen Beitrags. Zicklam (Münster) Zusammenfassung Im Rahmen eines ehrenamtlichen Projekts der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Westfälischer Koleopterologen wurde im Jahr 2015 die Käferfauna im Gebiet des Mess- tischblatts „4211 Ascheberg“ (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kreis Coesfeld) qualitativ und semiquantitativ erfasst und dokumentiert. Hierbei wurden mit einer Vielzahl unterschiedlichster Nachweismethoden ausge- wählte Lebensraumtypen, wie z. B. Stieleichen-Hainbuchenwald, Kalk-Buchen- wald, beweidetes Feuchtgrünland, Ackerraine, Kleingewässer und Bahnbrachen, beprobt und auf ihre Käferfauna hin untersucht. Es konnten 941 Käferarten aus 74 Familien nachgewiesen werden, wobei die Kurzflügler (Fam. Staphylinidae) mit 260 Taxa erwartungsgemäß die artenreichste Familie stellten. Unter Be- rücksichtigung von 79 „historisch“ (von WESTHOFF 1881/82 bis zum Jahr 2014) dokumentierten Arten sind somit aus dem gesamten Messtischblatt 1.020 Käferarten bekannt, von denen bundesweit eine als „vom Aussterben bedroht“ (RL-Kategorie 1), 18 als „stark gefährdet“ (RL-Kategorie 2) und weitere 50 Arten als „gefährdet“ (RL-Kategorie 3) eingestuft wurden (GEISER 1998, SCHMIDT et al. 2016, SPITZENBERG et al. 2016). Besonders hervorzuheben sind die westfälischen Erstnachweise von Leiodes macropus (RYE, 1873) (Fam. Leiodidae, Schwammkugelkäfer), Trixagus exul (BONVOULOIR, 1859) (Fam. Throscidae, Spaltaugenkäfer) und Berginus tamarisci WOLLASTON, 1854 (Fam. Mycetophagidae, Baumschwammkäfer). Darüber hinaus konnten Graptodytes granularis (LINNAEUS, 1767) (Fam. Dytiscidae, Schwimm- käfer) nach über 50 Jahren und Lymantor coryli (PERRIS, 1855) (Fam. Scolytidae, Borkenkäfer) nach mehr als 100 Jahren wieder für Westfalen gemeldet werden. 5 Summary In the context of a voluntary project carried out in 2015 by the working group of Westphalian Coleopterologists the beetle fauna in the area of the ordinance survey map „4211 Ascheberg” (North Rhine-Westphalia, Coesfeld district) was recorded and documented qualitatively and semi-quantitatively. With a multitude of different collection methods selected habitat types, as for example oak-hornbeam forests, lime-beech forest, wet meadows, unploughed field strips, small water bodies and derelict railways, were sampled and analysed with respect to their beetle fauna. Altogether, 941 species from 74 families could be proven, among which rove beetles (Staphylinidae) with 260 taxa being the most species rich family, as expected. Under consideration of 79 “historically” (from WESTHOFF 1881/82 until the year 2014) documented species 1,020 beetle species are known for the ordinance survey map, of which nationwide one species is assessed to be “threatened with extinction” (RL category 1), 18 species as “strongly endangered” (RL category 2) and 50 species as “endangered” (RL category 3) (GEISER 1998, SCHMIDT et al. 2016, SPITZENBERG et al. 2016). Particularly highlighted should be the first records for Westphalia of Leiodes macropus (RYE, 1873) (Fam. Leiodidae, round fungus beetles), Trixagus exul (BONVOULOIR, 1859) (Fam. Throscidae, small false click beetles) and Berginus tamarisci WOLLASTON, 1854 (Fam. Mycetophagidae, hairy fungus beetles). Furthermore, Graptodytes granularis (LINNAEUS, 1767) (Fam. Dytiscidae, predaceous diving beetles) could be recorded again in Westphalia after more than 50 years and Lymantor coryli (PERRIS, 1855) (Fam. INTRODUCTION The superfamily Curculionoidea, commonly named snout beetles or weevils, is one of the highest diversity group of insects and probably the largest family of the order Coleoptera, that including over 62,000 species and around 6,000 genera thus far described (Oberprieler et al., 2007). They are small to large-sized beetles (approximately 1-60 mm) of different shapes, colors and habitats;Weevils can be recognized by their more or less long and slender rostrum with mouthparts situated at its apex, and mostly geniculate antennae with more or less compact antennal club (Thompson, 1992; Kuschel, 1995; Alonso- Zarazaga and Lyal, 1999; Anderson, 2002; Marvaldi et al., 2002; Oberprieler et al., 2007).

    Sand pit for Biodiversity at Cep II quarry Researcher: Klára Řehounková Research group: Petr Bogusch, David Boukal, Milan Boukal, Lukáš Čížek, František Grycz, Petr Hesoun, Kamila Lencová, Anna Lepšová, Jan Máca, Pavel Marhoul, Klára Řehounková, Jiří Řehounek, Lenka Schmidtmayerová, Robert Tropek Březen – září 2012 Abstract We compared the effect of restoration status (technical reclamation, spontaneous succession, disturbed succession) on the communities of vascular plants and assemblages of arthropods in CEP II sand pit (T řebo ňsko region, SW part of the Czech Republic) to evaluate their biodiversity and conservation potential. We also studied the experimental restoration of psammophytic grasslands to compare the impact of two near-natural restoration methods (spontaneous and assisted succession) to establishment of target species. The sand pit comprises stages of 2 to 30 years since site abandonment with moisture gradient from wet to dry habitats. In all studied groups, i.e. vascular pants and arthropods, open spontaneously revegetated sites continuously disturbed by intensive recreation activities hosted the largest proportion of target and endangered species which occurred less in the more closed spontaneously revegetated sites and which were nearly absent in technically reclaimed sites. Out results provide clear evidence that the mosaics of spontaneously established forests habitats and open sand habitats are the most valuable stands from the conservation point of view. It has been documented that no expensive technical reclamations are needed to restore post-mining sites which can serve as secondary habitats for many endangered and declining species. The experimental restoration of rare and endangered plant communities seems to be efficient and promising method for a future large-scale restoration projects in abandoned sand pits.

The current article presents faunistic data on 18 leaf-beetle (Chrysomelidae) species in Lithuania. Three species of them, Chrysolina herbacea (Duftschmid, 1825), Gonioctena intermedia (Helliesen, 1913) and Phyllotreta dilatata Thomson, 1866, are mentioned for the local fauna for the first time. The reviewed material is deposited in collections of Kaunas Tadas Ivanauskas Zoological Museum. A short review of the history of leaf-beetle research in Lithuania is given.   • Dartington Report on Beetles 2015
    Report on beetles (Coleoptera) collected from the Dartington Hall Estate, 2015 by Dr Martin Luff 1. Introduction and Methods The majority of beetle recording in 2015 was concentrated on three sites and habitats: 1. Further sampling of moss on the Deer Park wall (SX794635), as mentioned in my 2014 report. This was done on two dates in March by MLL and again in October, aided by Messrs Tony Allen and Clive Turner, both experienced coleopterists. 2. Beetles associated with the decomposing body of a dead deer. The recently (accidentally) killed deer was acquired on 12th May by Mike Newby who pegged it out under wire netting in the small wood adjacent to 'Flushing Meadow', here referred to as 'Flushing Copse' (SX802625). The body was lifted regularly and beaten over a collecting tray, initially every week, then fortnightly and then monthly until early October. In addition, two pitfall traps were installed just beside the corpse, with a small amount of preservative in each. These were emptied each time the site was visited. 3. Water beetles sampled on 28th October, together with Tony Allen and Clive Turner, from the ponds and wheel-rut puddles on Berryman's Marsh (SX799615). Other work again included the contents of the nest boxes from Dartington Hills and Berrymans Marsh at the end of October, thanks to Mike Newby and his volunteer helpers. 2. Results In all, 203 beetle species were recorded in 2015, of which 85 (41.8%) were additions to the Dartington list. This increase over the 32% new in 2014 (Luff, 2015) results partly from sampling habitats (carrion, fresh-water) not previously examined.

This study was carried out in 2000–2004 on strawberry plantations in Tukums, Rîga, Do- bele, and Limbaþi districts. Insects were collected from strawberry fields by pitfall trapping, sweep netting and leaf sampling methods. A total of 137 insect species belonging to seven orders and 41 families were identified to species. Of the phytophagous insects, the order Orthoptera was represented by one species, other orders by a larger number of species: Hymenoptera (3), Dip- tera (16), Lepidoptera (20), Thysanoptera (21), Hemiptera (39), and Coleoptera (37).
