1 Moqhaka Local Municipality is situated in the southern part of the Fezile Dabi District Municipality. The former , Steynsrus and Transitional Local Councils and sections of the Riemland, Kroonkop and Koepel Transitional Rural Councils are included in the Moqhaka Local Municipality.

ACTION PLAN FOR IMPROVING SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT IN MOQHAKA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY - SOUTH AFRICA Current Situations and Problems

1. Collection only happens in Urban areas of Kroonstaad, Viljoenstaad and Stuinsrus but rural communities are not adequaltely serviced.

2. Inconcistencies in collection (include urban centers) due to ageing vehicle and frequent breakdown in the collection vehicles

3. Landfill site in Kroonstaad does is not compliant to its permit as well as to the standard for disposal facilities. Current Situations & Problems
