The Sandakphu trek can be called the mother of all treks for those who love mountains. This is because you can witness some of the great Himalayan peaks when you are on this trek. While there's Kanchenjunga on one hand, there are incredible views of Everest, Makalu and Lhotse on the other.

The trek offers some of the most mesmerising panoramas, and takes you through a lush vegetation with numerous species of birds up to the snow laden fields laid across a wide expanse of land. In fact, the forests have a variety in the form silver firs, rhododendrons, magnolias and lovely large-leaved drumstick primulas.

Base Camp: Jaubari in West Bengal is about 2.5 km after Maneybhanjan on the road to Rimbik. From Maneybhajan taxi stand, 2 roads fork out, upper road leads to Sandakphu and the lower to Jaubari. Do not mistake the ‘another Jaubari’ in Nepal. After 2 kms on the right side there is a silver/tin shed, that is the INDIAHIKES home stay.

Pick up time: NJP station: 9:30 am Airport: 1 :30 pm

Travel time: NJP station to Jaubari: 4-5 hrs drive Airport to Jaubari- 5-6 hrs approx

Cab Cost: NJP station to Jaubari: Rs 2800/- per vehicle one way (5-7 seater) Bagdogra Airport to Jaubari: Rs 2800/- per vehicle, one way (5-7 seater) (to be shared equally)

Return travel: Sepi to Siliguri - 6 hour drive (approx.) Rs 5500, distance approx 125 Kms Sepi to Darjeeling - 3 1/2 hour drive (approx.) Rs 2800.?
