Pre- Program (PK)

Celina ISD offers an all-day Pre-K program for *qualifying .

Please note the following information regarding our Pre-K program.  The Pre-K program is for qualifying students who are four (4) years old on or before September 1st of the year in which they will be attending Pre-K. (Students who are 5 years old on or before September 1st will be enrolled in Kindergarten.) See qualifying criteria in the section below.  Tuition spots are not available at this time.  The program is a full day program. Students will attend school from 7:55 am until 3:25 pm.  The Pre-K program will be housed at the Celina campus.  Transportation is provided for those living 2 miles or more away from the campus.  Breakfast and lunch is served; however, students may bring their own lunches and/or snacks.  *Tuition - Free for Qualifying Students

Celina ISD follows the State of Texas guidelines by offering tuition-free Pre-K programs. Students must be four (4) years of age by September 1st of the school year to qualify and must live within Celina ISD school boundaries. In addition, the must meet one or more of the following criteria:

Language Qualifier:  unable to speak or comprehend the English language.  will complete a home language survey (provided by the school).  Students will be tested to determine Limited English Proficiency.  Income Qualifier:  Student is educationally disadvantaged.  Parents will need to provide a copy of their W-2 forms and two most recent pay stubs, or  Current tax return if self-employed, or  Current TANF or SNAP eligibility letter.  Chart below updated February, 2019.

Homeless Qualifier:  Student is homeless.  Parents must complete the required McKinney-Vento Act form provided by the district.  The district liaison will review the form and determine eligibility.

Foster Care Qualifier:  Is the child in foster care or has the child ever been in foster care.  Must provide verification letter of Pre-K eligibility from the DFPS.

Military Qualifiers:

 Is the child or stepchild of an active-duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority , or  Is the child or stepchild of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty.  Documentation must be one the following: verification of US Department of Defense photo ID, statement of service, copy of death certificate, copy of Purple Heart orders, copy of official letter from commander, copy of a letter from US Department of Veteran’s Affairs, or documentation that service member is MIA.

Star of Texas Award Qualifiers:

 The child’s is a peace officer, firefighter, or emergency medical first responder who is eligible for the Star of Texas Award.  Must provide copy of the resolution (certificate) awarded to the parent of the child.

In addition to completing new student registration forms, the following documents will be needed in order to register:  Copy of Certified Birth Certificate or passport (not hospital certificate)  Copy of Social Security Card – optional If social security number is not available, the student will be assigned a state identification number.  Proof of Residence - Copy of utility bill, rental or lease agreement. For more information on Proof of Residence, please see below.  Copy of parent/guardian government issued photo ID (driver's license or picture ID)  Copy of Immunization Records (all shots must be current to register)  Proper documentation for qualifying for tuition-free pre-kindergarten

Proof of Residency: Celina ISD does not accept out of district transfers. Residency within the Celina ISD school boundaries must be established prior to the first day of school.

Proof of Residency: This must be a current electric bill or water bill stating your name and the physical address of the home (we cannot accept P.O. Boxes). If you are moving into Celina ISD, you may not have the required proof of residency (electric or water bill) to complete the enrollment process. If you do not have a current electric or water bill you may be able to get a receipt from the electric or water companies showing the established account. The receipt must have the current date, include the physical address of the home you live in, and the parent/guardian’s name.

If you are:

Leasing a home or apartment in Celina ISD: If you are not able to bring a water or electric bill, you may bring a copy of a lease agreement or contract showing the physical address of the home and the beginning and end date of the lease or contract. The contract or lease agreement must be current, include the physical address of the home you live in, and the parent/guardian’s name.

If you are:

Living with a current Celina ISD resident: If you are living with a current Celina ISD resident, you and the person you are living with will need to complete a Residency Affidavit. Residency Affidavits may be completed at your child(ren)'s campus and must be notarized. Your child will attend the campus that the Celina address is zoned for.  Celina Residents will need to bring: o Copy of a current utility bill (electric or water) that includes their name and the physical address of the home - The utility bill must be in the name of the person who comes with you to sign the affidavit. o Driver’s License or photo ID  Parent/Guardian will need to bring: o Driver’s License or photo ID  Notaries are available at each campus.

PLEASE NOTE: If any of the above residency scenarios apply to your family, the information above MUST be provided by the parent/guardian for approval prior to the beginning of the school year. If you have questions regarding residency, please contact the campus Principal or Secretary.
