Welcome to Cullman City Primary for the 20-21 School year. This guide is intended to help our families understand our procedures and options for educational learning for the school year. As you know, there are changes that occur daily due to Covid-19. We will be updating this information as we receive it from our local agency, Alabama State Department of Education and Alabama Department of Public Health. Both traditional and virtual will follow the Cullman City calendar. School Options

Learning Options: At this time, there are two learning options, traditional which is face to face instruction and virtual. Traditional learning has three formats: Option

Parents may choose the virtual school option for their students. We ask that you make this option for at least the first semester of the 20-21 school year. Virtual will be Cullman City certified teachers. Mrs. Jana Thrasher and Mrs. Ashley Garrison are our and certified teachers. Mrs. Ashley Garrison Mrs. Jana Thrasher Traditional School Procedures Facial Coverings - Teachers and staff will wear masks during the school day. Any required use of masks will be governed by Alabama Health Order as directed by Governor Kay Ivey, ( July 29, 2020). https://alabamapublichealth.gov/legal/assets/soe-extendingsaferathome-072920.pdf

Facial coverings for students. We cannot require facial coverings for our students, but we highly encourage to send students with masks for use during periods of transitions and other times of the day where will be difficult. We will have coverings available at school. CCPS PTO is providing lanyards that will enable students to clip their facial coverings on the lanyards.

Cleaning and Disinfecting- We have two custodians, Mrs. Lorene Howell and Ms. Sharon Norman. They will be cleaning rooms daily. We have purchased a disinfecting machine and they will be using this machine daily. Rugs and additional furniture has been removed from the classrooms to allow space for social distancing.

Morning Arrival and Dismissal - Students may arrive on campus beginning at 7:30. We will utilize our drop off service for families. Classes will be socially distanced as much as possible during arrival and dismissal times. Traditional School Extended Day and Nurse Visits Extended Day- We will be offering extended day services including early morning care, which begins at 7:00 AM and after school care until 5:30 PM. Afternoon extended day will be limited to fewer students than in previous years to accomodate as much social distancing as possible. Please contact Lois Bice @ [email protected] for more details.

Nurse Visits- This year, we will have a sick and a well patient area for our students. Students that receive routine medications will go to the well patient office. A medication trained assistant will administer medications. Nurse Whittle will be in the room with students who are ill and are waiting to go home. Students will wear a mask if they are in the sick room.

Medications: Mrs. Kalysha Whittle, CCPS nurse, will be available August 11-12, and August 17-18 to receive medication for the upcoming school year. Parents are encouraged to call to schedule an appointment with Nurse Whittle before school begins. Please have the School Medication Prescriber/ Authorization Form completed by the Healthcare Provider before bringing prescription medication to school. PPA Forms can be found on Cullman City Schools websites.For the health and safety of everyone, we ask that you do not come on campus if you have had symptoms or known exposure to COVID-19. Lunch- At this time, pre-K, Head Start and kindergarten classes will eat lunch in the cafeteria. Every class will have a designated table in the lunchroom and will be separated to the fullest extent possible. First grade students will pick their lunches and return to their classroom or outdoors to have lunch. Families are encouraged to prepay lunches to minimize the handling of currency. Library, Art, Music These teachers will move from classroom to classroom teaching lessons. No library books will be checked out. Traditional Format PE and We strongly believe that students must have physical activity, preferably outdoors whenever possible. PE- Each class will have 30 minutes of . These classes will be smaller to allow for social distancing. To the greatest extent possible, PE classes will be held outdoors. We have added additional playground equipment this year for students to enjoy. Recess- Each class will have 25 minutes of outdoor recess time. Classes will rotate to different equipment on the interior playground. Drive By

Both virtual and traditional students are invited to join us for a drive by open house. Classroom teachers will also post a video introducing their classroom. Look for these videos on the CCPS PTO Facebook page.

We ask that students remain in their car during this time. Please bring your supplies with you. Teachers will also have forms for parents to complete during this time. Students will also be given a name badge for their child during the drive by. Please have your child wear this name badge on the first day of school.

Classes listed as meeting in the back of the school will remain in the right lane and circle around the school. Teachers will be under the awning on the left side of the school.

Virtual Students- You may pick up your chromebooks on August 13 from 9:00-11:00 am on the side of CCPS, close to the lunchroom.

Remember to wear have your wear the name badge provided during open house drive by. Students will need to wear their name badges each day for the first 2 weeks of school. The first day of school, parents will drop off their student using the drive through. Additional staff will be on hand to help students get to their classroom. Birthdays at CCPS We love to celebrate birthdays at CCPS. We will recognize students’ birthdays on the morning show and you may send a Pre-Packaged snack for all the students in the classroom. Please do not send homemade items for birthday celebrations.

Visitors at CCPS Visitors on campus will be limited. We will utilize the window next door to the office door to take paperwork and correspond with you.

Golden Apples- We will recognize our students who have exhibited excellent, character, citizenship and scholarship. Parents will be able to tune into the Morning Show to watch their student being recognized.

Field Trips
