Revised Recommendations: Eglinton Crosstown LRT Stations Naming
STAFF REPORT To: Metrolinx Board of Directors From: Leslie Woo, Chief Planning Officer Date: January 14, 2016 Re: Revised Recommendations: Eglinton Crosstown LRT Stations and Stops Naming Executive Summary: Staff is seeking final approval of Eglinton Crosstown LRT station and stop names (Appendix A). The December 3, 2015 report of the Chief Planning Officer recommended Eglinton Crosstown LRT Station and Stop Names based on the Naming Principles and Protocols developed following a 12 month (between late 2014 and late 2015) long engagement process with GTHA local transit operators (Appendix B). The public was encouraged to provide feedback on proposed station and stop names online in October 2015. The Toronto Transit Commission also provided its own recommendations on the proposed names at its meeting of November 23, 2015. At the December 3, 2015 Board meeting, three recommended location names were questioned: Lebovic, Forest Hill and Fairbank and staff were to report back on the basis of this Board feedback. Since the December 3, 2015 meeting staff undertook: • a deeper analysis and exploration of possible alternative names for these three locations; and • sought additional feedback from local councillors and MPPs on the three locations. The revised recommendations are i) to use Hakimi in place of Lebovic; ii) no change be made to Forest Hill; and iii) no change be made to Fairbank. In addition, staff plan to use in-station way-finding to assist customers in navigating between stations and the surface street system. As well, Toronto Councillor Thompson raised the question on the naming of the “Golden Mile” station. No change is being proposed by staff. -

Bus Lane Implementation Plan
2045.5 For Action Bus Lane Implementation Plan Date: July 14, 2020 To: TTC Board From: Chief Strategy & Customer Officer Summary The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that the TTC is a vital service in Toronto providing transportation to essential destinations including employment, healthcare, groceries and pharmacies. Although TTC ridership may be down to 22% of pre-pandemic levels, the TTC continues to serve hundreds of thousands of customer-trips on a daily basis. We also have learned through this pandemic, that bus customers have relied on our services the most - 36% of the customers that used buses prior to COVID-19 are still using the system as compared to 19% of subway customers, as of the week ending June 26. As the city and GTHA re-opens and recovery begins, it is expected that people who have the resources and option to, will return to private vehicles, taxis or private transportation companies (PTCs) more quickly than to transit in order to maintain physical distance from others. The TTC’s surface transit network plays a critical role in moving people around Toronto and we must enhance its attractiveness to ensure it continues to provide a viable alternative to the automobile. A key initiative to achieve this is the implementation of bus transit lanes, which will provide customers with a safe, reliable and fast service. The TTC’s 5-Year Service Plan & 10-Year Outlook identified a 20-point action plan including Action 4.1 Explore Bus Transit Lanes. The TTC has worked with partner divisions at the City to develop the following prioritization and implementation plan for the five corridors identified in the Plan. -

Metrolinx Eglinton Crosstown LRT Long-Term Temporary Construction Traffic Operations and Parking Amendments
REPORT FOR ACTION Metrolinx Eglinton Crosstown LRT Long-Term Temporary Construction Traffic Operations and Parking Amendments Date: April 12, 2017 To: North York Community Council From: Acting Director, Transportation Infrastructure Management Wards: Ward 15 SUMMARY The purpose of this report is to seek approval for the amendment of traffic and parking regulations at numerous locations in the vicinity of Fairbank Station (Dufferin Street) and Oakwood Station for a period of 20 months in order to support the construction of the Metrolinx Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (ECLRT). This staff report is about a matter upon which Community Council has delegated authority to make a final decision, provided it is not amended so that it varies with City policy or By-laws. The proposed amendments form elements of the road occupancy permit and construction traffic management plans necessitated by the construction staging for this project. Proposed traffic operations amendments include the conversion of a section of Northcliffe Boulevard into a two-way street. Proposed parking regulation amendments include the prohibition of parking on a section of Northcliffe Boulevard, and the removal of specific time limit restrictions for on-street parking on segments of Times Road, Livingstone Avenue and Vaughan Road. The proposed changes have been developed through consultation with the affected Ward Councillor. RECOMMENDATIONS The Acting Director, Transportation Infrastructure Management recommends that: 1. North York Community Council amend the existing one-way northbound operation on Northcliffe Boulevard, between Eglinton Avenue West and Rogers Road, to operate Metrolinx Eglinton Crosstown LRT Long-Term Temporary Traffic and Parking Amendments Page 1 of 9 between Rogers Road and Vaughan Road, from May 3, 2017 to and including January 1, 2019.
