The cities of Cirebon, Central State Partner Other Partners Banjarmassin, Sorong, Ministry of Public work and Housing Asian Development Bank Palembang and Makassar are Government of Indonesia the focus cities of the project.

While the GOI has conducted a range of slum allevation projects since the 1960’s, it currently recognizes that while these have resulted in the reduction of slums and improved access to public services, they have failed to contend with the development of new slums. D E T A I L S O F C O O P E R A T I O N The primary objective of the project is to (i) develop the Slum Improvement in Strategic Human Settlements Area (SISHA) Concept; (ii) identify, prioritize and map required infrasteructure ivestments in slum areas in five cities (Cirebon, Banjarmasin, Sorong, Palembang and Makassar) and (iii)conduct pre-feasibility studies (PFS) ond outline design on identified priority infrastructure investments.

E X P E C T E D D E V E L O P M E N T A L I M P A C T S The project will contribute to the achievement of the Government of Indonesia’s of having no slum areas and promoting 100% access to clean water and sanitation. Thus, improving the quality of life of citizens living in existing slum areas and drastically improving the health and sanitation standards in the whole city.
