QUESTIONS

1. MR. P. MAJAGA, MP. (NATA-GWETA): To ask the Minister of Employment, (157) Labour Productivity and Skills Development if he is aware that Nata/Gweta Brigade students do not get their allowances on time and therefore are unable to pay their rentals.

2. MR. P. K. MOTAOSANE, MP. (-): To ask the Minister (158) of Transport and Communications if he is aware that - road was once planned for; if so, to update this Honourable House on the current status of this road or any alternative plans to ensure that people are able to access services in Lentsweletau.

3. MR. C. GREEFF, MP. ( BONNINGTON SOUTH): To ask the Minister (159) of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development to update this Honourable House on the current state of the Gaborone West Youth Centre (Mma Masire).

4. MR. P. P. P. MOATLHODI, MP. (): To ask the Minister of Tertiary (160) Education, Research, Science and Technology:

(i) to confirm whether his Ministry entered into a lease agreement with a certain landlord at Central Business District (CBD) to occupy some premises on September 2018; and if so, to state:

(ii) what has delayed them to move to the said building;

(iii) whether indeed monthly rentals have continued to be paid and if so, how much;

(iv) if he does not consider this a waste of public funds; if so, how and when he intends addressing this problem.

5. MR. G. KEKGONEGILE, MP. (MAUN EAST): To ask the Minister of Health and (161) Wellness if he will consider upgrading Mababe Health Post to a specialised clinic to serve the entire labour force and communities in Savuti, Moremi, Khwai and Mababe concessions, given the long distances to adequate facilities, terrain travelled and worsening conflicts between tourism workers and employers in the Delta due to increasing number of non-issuance of permits to attend health facilities in Maun.

6. MR. M. S. MOLEBATSI, MP. (MMADINARE): To ask the Minister of (162) Investment, Trade and Industry to state:

(i) how much of the Diamond Industry Intellectual Property is developed in Botswana; and

(ii) if it is implemented in Botswana; if not, why.

7. MR. O. RAMOGAPI, MP. (): To ask the Minister of Local (163) Government and Rural Development if there are any plans to declare Palapye a town following the adoption of a Motion by the Central District Council some ten (10) years ago.

8. MR. Y. BOKO, MP. ( EAST): To ask the Minister of Employment, (164) Labour Productivity and Skills Development if the Committee of Application of Standards of International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 2017 made findings that the Government of Botswana violated Convention 87 (Freedom of Association) and 98 (Protection of Right to Organise and Collective Bargaining); and the Committee put it to Government to engage with social partners for holistic review of Labour Laws to align them to International Labour Standards and to state:

(i) when Government intends to complete this process and comply with International Labour standards at a time when the country’s Labour Laws are anti-workers and anti-Trade Unions; and

(ii) if Government intends to allow for unionisation of Prisons Services as per recommendations by ILO.
