Dubbla Finalplatser I Rallycross-VM För Volkswagen Team Sweden – Rustad Överlägsen I EM Dubbla finalplatser i rallycross-VM för Volkswagen Team Sweden – Rustad överlägsen i EM Volkswagen Team Sweden fick med båda sina förare i final när årets femte deltävling i rallycross-VM avgjordes i Tyskland. Johan Kristoffersson slutade fyra och slog vakt om sin andraplats i VM-tabellen. Tord Linnerud blev sjätte man i sin första VM-final. I Marklund Motorsport missade båda VM-förarna semifinal. Desto bättre gick det för Tommy Rustad som vann EM i Supercar överlägset. VM- och EM-deltävlingen på Estering i norra Tyskland bjöd på ett blandat resultat för de svenska Volkswagenteamen. I VM lyckades Volkswagen Team Sweden bäst. Johan Kristoffersson och Tord Linnerud var stabila i kvalomgångarna där norrmannen var bäst en fjärdeplats totalt, placeringen före Kristoffersson. I semifinalerna fortsatte framgångarna. I den första vare Kristoffersson tvåa bakom fransmannen Davy Jeanney och i den andra nådde Linnerud samma placering – slagen endast av Petter Solberg. I finalen delade VW-förarna andra startled. Kristoffersson var snabbast av startplattan och var trea ut ur den första, tuffa kurvan. Linnerud var fyra, men tappade till sjätte plats över de sex varven. Kristoffersson fick nöja sig med fjärde plats sedan han blivit passerad av såväl Petter Solberg som Timmy Hansen när han tog alternativspåret på det sista varvet. – Rent spontant så här direkt efter finalen är jag rätt nöjd. Visst hade det varit roligt med en pallplats, men på en så chansartad bana som den här, där det studsar bilar åt alla håll och kantar, får man vara nöjd med att ta sig till final. Väl där var det inte lätt från andra startspår. Arrangören hade vattnat banan på grund av dammet och det fick till följd att det sprutade upp lera från de framförvarande bilarna. Jag såg ingenting in i första sväng. Där handlade det bara om att överleva, sa Kristoffersson minuterna efter målgång och tillade: – Jag tappade visserligen en del poäng till VM-ledande Petter Solberg, men jag förstärkte min andraplats i mästerskapet och det var viktigt. Med sin samlade insats såg Kristoffersson och Linnerud till att Volkswagen Team Sweden blev näst bästa team i Tyskland. Det gav dessutom avancemang till fjärde plats i VM-tabellen. För Marklund Motorsports VM-förare Toomas Heikkinen och P-G Andersson blev det ingen lyckad utflykt till Tyskland. Båda hade bekymmer i kvalomgångarna. Heikkinen blev helt utan poäng i den första och Andersson tvingades bryta den tredje med mager utdelning i poängkolumnen. De brutna kvalheaten innebar dessvärre att duon hamnade utanför semifinalplats – för andra tävlingen i rad. Båda tappade också mark till täten i mästerskapstabellen. – Jag gjorde tre dåliga starter och det blev helt avgörande för min del den här helgen, sa en besviken P-G Andersson. Apropå det faktum att han missat semifinal två tävlingar i rad konstaterar han bestämt: – Det ska inte bli en tredje. Glädjeämnet i Marklund Motorsport i Tyskland var Tommy Rustad, som kör EM i Supercar. Norrmannen visade hög klass i sin Volkswagen Polo genom hela tävlingen. Han tog flest poäng i kvalomgångarna, vann sin semifinal klart och var helt överlägsen i finalen som han vann före fransmannen Jerome Grosset-Janin. – Vilken härlig känsla att få stå överst på pallen igen. Det var länge sedan, jublade Rustad och lyfte på hjälmen som ett tack till personalen i Marklund Motorsport. Tack vare segern tog Rustad in på Grosset-Janin i EM-tabellen. Inför nästa deltävling skiljer det bara två poäng till fransmannens fördel. Trea i mästerskapstabellen är Volkswagen Team Swedens Ole Christian Veiby. På Estering var han trea bakom Rustad och Grosset-Janin i kvalet, men i semifinalen blev han fyra och missade därmed avancemang till final. Ramona Karlsson, tredje Volkswagenförare i EM, hamnade dessvärre utanför en semifinalplats i sin VW Scirocco. Resultat. Rallycross-VM, Buxtehude, Tyskland, 20-21 juni.     Volvo symbol When the decision was taken to start producing Volvo cars in August , financial backer Svenska Kullagerfabriken — SKF — reactivated a company that had been idle since for the purpose. The name of that company was VOLVO and it had been formed in for the manufacture and marketing of bearings for the automotive industry. Not only was the name ingeniously simple, it was also easy to pronounce in most places around the world and with a minimal risk of spelling errors. And best of it all was its immensely strong symbolic connection to the company's entire operations. In its first person singular form, the verb "volvere" becomes "volvo", i. Its Latin form gives rise to several derivations of the word that in one way or another, and in many languages too, describe a rotating movement, for instance, revolver. Everything that rolls When operations started, they were described as follows: "Ball bearings, roller bearings, machines, transmissions, automobiles, bicycles, rolling-stock, transportation devices, means of transport of all kinds and parts of and accessories for the aforementioned products". All those things were not realised but quite a few Volvo automobiles and other transportation devices have been produced over the years. Some other products that also carried the Volvo brand name are such oddities as producer-gas burners, camping trailers and office chairs. Ancient logotype At the same time as VOLVO was reactivated, the ancient chemical symbol for iron, a circle with an arrow pointing diagonally upwards to the right, was adopted as a logotype. This is one of the oldest and most common ideograms in Western culture and originally stood for the planet Mars in the Roman Empire.

    01.05.2014 BLOCK AND EKSTROM ADD TO STAR LINE-UP FOR HELL RX Round 3 – Rallycross of Norway Round three of the FIA World Rallycross Championship – World RX of Norway – boasts a truly international line-up with drivers from a variety of motorsport disciplines including F1, WRC, DTM and X Games. Amongst the stars competing in Norway are American Gymkhana hero Ken Block plus two-time DTM Champion Mattias Ekstrom, who makes his World RX debut this weekend as part of the all-new EKS RX Team. Set 25 miles east of the city of Trondheim, Hell is located in the Lanke area of the municipality of Stjørdal and will host round three of the Championship. The event has attracted a staggering 38 Supercars in the headline Supercar category with the supporting TouringCar and Super1600 categories attracting a further 39 entries. Hell also marks the second round of the five-round FIA European Rallycross Championship (Euro RX), of which there are 23 drivers eligible to score points. Currently leading the drivers’ standings and eager to secure a win on home turf is Ford Olsbergs MSE driver Andreas Bakkerud. “My win at Lydden felt like a dream and it’s incredible to be leading the Championship as I get ready to race at my home event,” explained the 22-year-old who was a spotter for former F1 driver Nelson Piquet Jnr at X Games in Austin last weekend.
