Media Information, 2013 Dakar Rally
Media Information 2013 Dakar Rally – #07 The Atacama shows no mercy: Three-O-One defends third place at the “Dakar” Calama, 10 January 2013 Position defended on one of the most formidable stages: Giniel de Villiers and Dirk von Zitzewitz remain in third place after almost 3,000 of the 8,000 kilometres that form this year’s Dakar Rally. Driving a Toyota Hilux, they trailed stage winners Nasser Al-Attiyah and Lucas Cruz in a buggy by 17m 17s after one of the most challenging legs of the toughest desert rally in the world, which took the competitors through the Atacama Desert. The winners of the 2009 “Dakar” were struck by misfortune in the dunes: de Villiers and von Zitzewitz had no option but to slow down when they came across a rival car that had, unbeknown to them, got stuck behind a crest. They were then forced to spend valuable time using sand ladders, deflating the tyres and shovelling for all their worth in order to free themselves from the situation they suddenly found themselves in. Despite being seen as rank outsiders, “Ginny” and “Schnietz”, as the two friends know each other, now find themselves just 42m 31s behind odds-on favourites Stéphane Peterhansel and Jean-Paul Cottret in the X- raid Mini in the overall classification. This in itself is a success worthy of recognition after a third of the total “Dakar” distance. Friday sees the Dakar Rally cross the border to Argentina via the picturesque Paso de Jama, with its literally breath-taking plateaus at over 4,000 metres above sea level. -

Herndon, VA — Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross teammates Scott Speed and Tanner Foust battled each other all weekend for the top spot on the track and in the championship at the Port of Los Angeles. While Foust took the win at his home track, Speed secured the Driver’s Championship following a second-place finish in the Final. Speed, driver of the No. 41 Oberto Circle K Beetle GRC, drove smart all weekend. Dubbla Finalplatser I Rallycross-VM För Volkswagen Team Sweden – Rustad Överlägsen I EM
I Marklund Motorsport missade båda VM-förarna semifinal. I VM lyckades Volkswagen Team Sweden bäst. I semifinalerna fortsatte framgångarna. I finalen delade VW-förarna andra startled. -
Volvo Symbol
Volvo symbol When the decision was taken to start producing Volvo cars in August , financial backer Svenska Kullagerfabriken — SKF — reactivated a company that had been idle since for the purpose. The name of that company was VOLVO and it had been formed in for the manufacture and marketing of bearings for the automotive industry. Not only was the name ingeniously simple, it was also easy to pronounce in most places around the world and with a minimal risk of spelling errors. And best of it all was its immensely strong symbolic connection to the company's entire operations. In its first person singular form, the verb "volvere" becomes "volvo", i. Its Latin form gives rise to several derivations of the word that in one way or another, and in many languages too, describe a rotating movement, for instance, revolver. Everything that rolls When operations started, they were described as follows: "Ball bearings, roller bearings, machines, transmissions, automobiles, bicycles, rolling-stock, transportation devices, means of transport of all kinds and parts of and accessories for the aforementioned products". All those things were not realised but quite a few Volvo automobiles and other transportation devices have been produced over the years. Some other products that also carried the Volvo brand name are such oddities as producer-gas burners, camping trailers and office chairs. Ancient logotype At the same time as VOLVO was reactivated, the ancient chemical symbol for iron, a circle with an arrow pointing diagonally upwards to the right, was adopted as a logotype. This is one of the oldest and most common ideograms in Western culture and originally stood for the planet Mars in the Roman Empire.
