In his tenth World Championship finale in a row, the defending rallycross World Champion missed yet another podium finish by 0.4 seconds. In the overall standings, the Swede still holds second behind compatriot Johan Kristoffersson. In the teams’ classification EKS is third at the half-way stage of the season. Ekström made a flying start around the rollercoaster track in Norway. Despite torrential rain, the Swede coped the best with the slippery track at the wheel of his Audi S1 EKS RX quattro, and led the overall classification after the first day. “I was a little surprised that we were so fast in the wet, but that was quattro weather,” joked Ekström after the final. “In the dry conditions on Sunday, we struggled again to match the pace of the competition. In the final we lost crucial ground right at the start. This was our own mistake and this ultimately cost us the podium finish.” Although Ekström leaves Norway without a trophy, he still scored 23 important points for the overall standings. After six of twelve rounds, the World Champion is eight points behind the leading VW driver Johan Kristoffersson.

At the ninth round in Lohéac, the reigning World Champion finished third – the first podium result since his victory in Hockenheim last May. In front of 75,000 spectators, the Swede was only beaten in the final by his countryman Johan Kristoffersson and the French local matador Sébastien Loeb. In the overall standings, Ekström is third behind Kristoffersson and his team mate Petter Solberg – also like EKS in the team classification. Following heavy rain, the final race in Brittany became a mud festival featuring many overtaking moves. “Saturday sun and Sunday rather more swimming and sliding, a varied weekend,” confirmed Ekström. “I’m actually quite satisfied with my third place, but I’m a little annoyed because we weren’t so far from the front. In the dry and in the rain we were just missing a tiny bit, but we can certainly build on the performance.” In Lohéac, Ekström’s team mates Reinis Nitišs and Toomas Heikkinen once again made the semi- final races for the twelve fastest drivers, but drew the short straw at this stage. “After contact with Andreas Bakkerud my wipers stopped working, from there on I was running blind,” summarized Nitišs and added: “I’m disappointed with the result because it doesn’t show our real performance.” Heikkinen missed the final after a collision with Ken Block.

Ford Olsbergs MSE driver Reinis Nitiss is second and Britain´s Liam Doran third inhis SDRX Citroen DS3. Doran was leading the World RX crews overnight after his heat two win but his team-mate Solberg clawed to the top of the Intermediate Classification by winning heats three and four. Round one winner Johan Kristoffersson iscurrently fourth despite losing time with two punctures in heat two and an impact with Team Peugeot-Hansen´s Davy Jeanney in today´s closing race. “It´s been a fantastic day for us with two heat wins, a track record and 16 World Championship points,“ grinned Solberg, who put on a fantastic show for the thousands of fans who watched the thrilling RX action at the famed Sachs Arena inside the F1 venue. “It didn´t get off to the best start for us yesterday but then everything has been getting better and better. I think we put on a good show for the DTM fans too, they love the rallycross action and have been saying how exciting the racing is!“ Wildcard entrant Tanner Foust is currently fifth after the American Top Gear presenter set two top five heat times, while Team Peugeot- Hansen´s Davy Jeanney is sixth in the Peugeot 208 WRX Supercar.

Any hopes of a podium finish were however destroyed by a slow puncture. The Finn was fifth in the end. Mattias Ekström was forced to retire in the semi-final with clutch problems. In the overall standings, the reigning Rallycross World Champion still holds third – as does EKS in the teams’ classification. In the only overseas race, torrential rain transformed the street circuit into a lake and quagmire on Saturday. Toomas Heikkinen and Mattias Ekström defied the adverse conditions to hold second and fourth place respectively after the first day. “Saturday was a good start, even if we didn’t have the paces of the two Polos of Johan Kristoffersson and Petter Solberg,” said Ekström. “Things also started very well on Sunday in the dry.” The Swede had qualified third for the final races for the best twelve drivers, and started from the front row. Peugeot 3008 DKR: nuovi artigli per la Dakar 2017 Per sfoggiare immagine e muscoli da rally-raid, il team sportivo del Leone ha preparato quest’anno la nuova Peugeot 3008 DKR 2017. La “belva” da competizione è una visione estrema del nuovo SUV 3008 (il suo lancio commerciale è previsto dopo il Salone di Parigi). L’indole rabbiosa ad alte prestazioni della 3008 DKR è assai evidente e allo stesso tempo riesce a mantenere una certa eleganza. Anche per la scelta minimalista delle decorazioni: nero, grigio e qualche tocco di rosso esaltano l’aspetto techno, soprattutto nella vista di 3/4 posteriore. Ad ogni modo, spiccano la cellula nera “Black Diamond” e le varie prese d’aria. Dal padiglione la modanatura mette in risalto la linea di cintura e i fianchi possenti con i pneumatici All-Terrain T/A della BFGoodrich. Ai lati trovano posto, visibili, anche le ruote di scorta, come ben visibile è la firma della Red Bull, sponsor insieme a Total. Un’evoluzione, quella della 3008, artisticamente rappresentata dalla breve “spray story” del video. Peugeot 3008 DKR: nuovi artigli per la Dakar 2017 Quanto alla tecnica, Peugeot Sport si è concentrata parecchio sulle sospensioni (geometria e ammortizzatori), ovviamente per adattare il loro comportamento a sollecitazioni impietose, quindi sul raffreddamento e sul contenimento del peso della vettura, a bilanciare la presenza dei rinforzi nonché all’utilizzo di un impianto di climatizzazione, che sarà assai apprezzato dagli equipaggi. Un grande protagonista è il motore e la sua preparazione, innanzitutto per gli adattamenti richiesti dal nuovo regolamento FIA, che per i veicoli a 2 ruote motrici motorizzati Diesel riduce il diametro della flangia di strozzatura dell’aria da 39 a 38 mm, il che costa una perdita di circa 20 cavalli.

23-08-2015 20:57 CEST Hard helg i Hell for Andreas Bakkerud Rallycross in Hell ble en eventyrlig suksess for arrangøren med over 19000 tilskuere over tre solfylte og flotte dager på Lånkebanen i Stjørdal. Publikum fikk oppleve tøffe fighter og heftig kjøring fra tidenes største startfelt med Supercars. For Andreas Bakkerud ble det derimot en hard helg, og lite mesterskapspoeng med hjem. – Akkurat det kan jeg skylde meg selv for, men arrangementet denne helgen har vært utrolig bra, forteller Bakkerud. Bakkerud havnet bakpå allerede før hjulene hadde rullet i gang i på Lørdagen. - Det ble en dobbel joker etter at bilen beveget seg på startplata i første omgang. Dermed ble jeg kjempende bakfra hele helgen. Vi hadde god fart på rundetidene, men klarte aldri å få det helt til totalt i heatene, forteller Bakkerud som endte som nummer 8 etter fire omganger. I semifinalen ble det virkelig action, og Andreas kom ut side om side med Petter Solberg. Det endte med en episode det ble snakket mye om i sosiale medier i ettertid: – Jeg gjorde samme manøver mot Tommy Rustad i fjerde omgang, men da uten kontakt mellom bilene. Jeg krysset linje bak Petter og prøver å gå for den luken som er der, men det blir kontakt, jeg treffer curbsen og slår i stykker mitt høyre framhjul. I ettertid er det enkelt å si at jeg burde bremset – men slik er rallycross det er tight og ting skjer raskt, forteller Bakkerud og legger til: - Det er jeg som ødelegger bilen min der ikke Petter. Bakkerud fortsatte å kjempe flere runder med bare tre hjul, men da felgen løsnet, og bremsene forsvant var det bare å parkere.

Dubbla finalplatser i rallycross-VM för Volkswagen Team Sweden – Rustad överlägsen i EM Volkswagen Team Sweden fick med båda sina förare i final när årets femte deltävling i rallycross-VM avgjordes i Tyskland. Johan Kristoffersson slutade fyra och slog vakt om sin andraplats i VM-tabellen. Tord Linnerud blev sjätte man i sin första VM-final. I Marklund Motorsport missade båda VM-förarna semifinal. Desto bättre gick det för Tommy Rustad som vann EM i Supercar överlägset. VM- och EM-deltävlingen på Estering i norra Tyskland bjöd på ett blandat resultat för de svenska Volkswagenteamen. I VM lyckades Volkswagen Team Sweden bäst. Johan Kristoffersson och Tord Linnerud var stabila i kvalomgångarna där norrmannen var bäst en fjärdeplats totalt, placeringen före Kristoffersson. I semifinalerna fortsatte framgångarna. I den första vare Kristoffersson tvåa bakom fransmannen Davy Jeanney och i den andra nådde Linnerud samma placering – slagen endast av Petter Solberg. I finalen delade VW-förarna andra startled. Kristoffersson var snabbast av startplattan och var trea ut ur den första, tuffa kurvan. Linnerud var fyra, men tappade till sjätte plats över de sex varven. Kristoffersson fick nöja sig med fjärde plats sedan han blivit passerad av såväl Petter Solberg som Timmy Hansen när han tog alternativspåret på det sista varvet. – Rent spontant så här direkt efter finalen är jag rätt nöjd. Visst hade det varit roligt med en pallplats, men på en så chansartad bana som den här, där det studsar bilar åt alla håll och kantar, får man vara nöjd med att ta sig till final. Väl där var det inte lätt från andra startspår.
