VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC Media Information 2200 Ferdinand Porsche Drive Herndon, Virginia 20171 www.media.vw.com @VWNews FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Mark Gillies 703-364-7104 [email protected] ANOTHER 1-2 FINISH FOR VOLKSWAGEN ANDRETTI RALLYCROSS CLINCHES 2017 RED BULL GLOBAL RALLYCROSS DRIVER’S CHAMPIONSHIP Tanner Foust had a perfect weekend in Los Angeles, while Scott Speed stayed near the front to win the Driver’s Championship, besting his teammate by just 19 points. Herndon, VA — Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross teammates Scott Speed and Tanner Foust battled each other all weekend for the top spot on the track and in the championship at the Port of Los Angeles. While Foust took the win at his home track, Speed secured the Driver’s Championship following a second-place finish in the Final. Speed, driver of the No. 41 Oberto Circle K Beetle GRC, drove smart all weekend. After qualifying second on Friday, Speed battled to second- and third-place finishes in early Heat races on Saturday, but won his Semifinal, putting him into a good starting position for the Final. Speed was shuffled to fourth in early laps of the Final, but fought his way back to a second-place finish, safely clinching the Driver’s Championship. “The whole week leading up to the race I was constantly thinking of the what-ifs, all the problems that could happen going in with a solid lead,” said Scott Speed. “My hat is off to everyone—I have the best team out here. I’m so lucky to have them and we have great partners in Volkswagen, Circle K, Oberto, Expedite Home Loans and Rockstar. -
Dubbla Finalplatser I Rallycross-VM För Volkswagen Team Sweden – Rustad Överlägsen I EM
I Marklund Motorsport missade båda VM-förarna semifinal. I VM lyckades Volkswagen Team Sweden bäst. I semifinalerna fortsatte framgångarna. I finalen delade VW-förarna andra startled. -
Volvo Symbol
Volvo symbol When the decision was taken to start producing Volvo cars in August , financial backer Svenska Kullagerfabriken — SKF — reactivated a company that had been idle since for the purpose. The name of that company was VOLVO and it had been formed in for the manufacture and marketing of bearings for the automotive industry. Not only was the name ingeniously simple, it was also easy to pronounce in most places around the world and with a minimal risk of spelling errors. And best of it all was its immensely strong symbolic connection to the company's entire operations. In its first person singular form, the verb "volvere" becomes "volvo", i. Its Latin form gives rise to several derivations of the word that in one way or another, and in many languages too, describe a rotating movement, for instance, revolver. Everything that rolls When operations started, they were described as follows: "Ball bearings, roller bearings, machines, transmissions, automobiles, bicycles, rolling-stock, transportation devices, means of transport of all kinds and parts of and accessories for the aforementioned products". All those things were not realised but quite a few Volvo automobiles and other transportation devices have been produced over the years. Some other products that also carried the Volvo brand name are such oddities as producer-gas burners, camping trailers and office chairs. Ancient logotype At the same time as VOLVO was reactivated, the ancient chemical symbol for iron, a circle with an arrow pointing diagonally upwards to the right, was adopted as a logotype. This is one of the oldest and most common ideograms in Western culture and originally stood for the planet Mars in the Roman Empire. -
News Release 20.09.15 Petter's Best in Barcelona Norwegian Superstar
News release 20.09.15 Petter’s best in Barcelona Norwegian superstar Petter Solberg celebrated victory at the maiden World RX of Barcelona at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya today (Sunday). Petter’s no stranger to winning, but it’s been a pretty lean summer in terms of time on the top step for the two-time FIA World Champion. Which is why he was so pleased to land a first victory since World RX of Great Britain at Lydden Hill in May. That and the fact he didn’t let his son Oliver down… Solberg, who is 35 points clear at the top of the World RX table with three rounds remaining this season, said: “We have fought hard for this win the whole weekend. We’ve run a lot of different set-ups on the car – we had to really work at it to catch Peugeot. All the time, the 208 was taking tenths of seconds, but eventually the brilliant PSRX engineers worked it out. “My son won a crosskart race in Sweden today; I got the message by telephone and he was joking and being quite confident and cocky in telling me I couldn’t let the family down – I actually really felt the pressure from that! “In the end, I could call him back and be quite cocky back with him. I liked that! “Everything was going quite well from the start, but in the third heat, I touched the wall on the left side – there was loads of dust in the car and I really couldn’t see so well. -
