2 LETTER FROM THE MAYOR

Greetings Friends and Neighbors, Can it be? Summer is over? It seemed at times that we had some of the cool September weather in August, but I am ready for and enjoy the light jacket times. As we walk around the streets and through the park, kick at the fallen leaves, and watch the geese, ducks and other birds begin to gather for their migration south, I can’t help but thank God for this wonderful community, and our people who live, work, play, and maintain this unique little place. I think of the Borough staff, from the office, public works, electric departments. Of course the individuals who make up the first responders from Police, to Fireman, to Fire Police, and the local hospital, with its emergency services. Then I consider the children going back at school, and I want to remind everyone to be on the watch as they walk or wait for their bus. The smell of fall, the sound of football games, and the many other activities at the local schools. So, I say many thanks to all, we have a unique and wonderful place to live, and many dedicated people committed to keeping it so! May God’s blessings continue to be upon us, and keep this enchanted little town in His care. My best to all, John D. Hollenbach, Mayor FIRE PREVENTION WEEK • OCTOBER 8-14, 2017 Every Second Counts Plan 2 Ways Out Perkasie Fire Co. FALL FEST - October. 1st The 16th annual Perkasie Borough Fall Festival will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017. As in years past, this popular family event will span Perkasie’s town center and Menlo Park, with a trolley bus providing free rides between the two locations. New in the downtown this year, a large covered tent and event area are dedicated to all things Harry Potter. Visitors will find themed crafts, music, quidditch target practice, photo ops, giveaways and food. Did someone say “butterbeer”?! Of course, Fall Festival favorite activities return this year: food, artisans, community and civic groups, raffles and family friendly activities will line the streets of our historic downtown. We’ll have live music from the Bucks County Folk Song Society for you to enjoy as you visit the vendors or the Perkasie Borough businesses that will be open for the day. The trackless train, pumpkin decorating and the pie eating contest were so popular that we are bringing those activities back to 7th St. The Chimayo Gallery Scavenger Hunt will take you all around the Festival as you collect stickers and win prizes. FREE family fun at Menlo Park includes a petting zoo, pony rides, inflatables, tumble track, face painting and more. Scarecrow making is back! We’ll have supplies at Menlo Park for families who want to make and display a scarecrow for the contest. Thank you to these local organizations for making this event possible: A&T Chevrolet-Subaru, American Heritage Federal Credit Union, Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonalds of Perkasie, Penn Community Bank, and Metropolitan Development Corporation. Perkasie Borough has wonderful marketing opportunities before, during and after the Fall Festival for businesses seeking to reach a large regional audience. Please contact the Borough for more information. All questions about the Fall Festival should be directed to Linda Reid, Event Coordinator at 215-257-5065 or [email protected]. 5 Slow Down: Back to School Means Sharing the Road

Mural Project Perkasie Borough is working on a project to create a brand new community mural to be installed on a large retaining wall, on 7th Street, behind Perkasie Borough Hall. Lead artist on the project is Perkasie resident, Tim Gibson who played a key role in the mural currently installed in Perkasie’s historic Trolley Tunnel on 7th Street. Tim painted that mural back in 2011 as part of Girl Scout, Meghan Kennedy’s, Silver Award Project. He is thrilled to have the opportunity to lead on the implementation of a second mural in Perkasie. This Fall, a Selection Committee will review submissions of artwork before creating a short list of designs for review and final selection by Borough Council. Weather permitting, the Borough hope to have the mural installed by the end of the year. More information about the Perkasie Mural can be found at www.perkasieborough.org.
