The license term for Intelsat 9 is currently set to expire on September 6, 2015. Intelsat, however, projects the end of service and maneuver life to be July 31, 2017. Intelsat states that extending the license will enable customers to continue receiving service from Intelsat 9 and continue efficient use of orbital resources. Intelsat also states that extending the license term will not affect Intelsat 9’s post-mission disposal plan.
