TRIP REPORT JAGUARLAND RESERVE 08 -10 OCT 2020

Trip duration: 3 days Tour Company: Nicks Adventures Bolivia species: 17 Species excluding bat species

Another great trip to Jaguar land Reserve Bolivia, was a scouting trip to check and set up cameras as well as look for feline species. Was a successful trip especially with the sighting but sad to see many fires in the region and very bad smoke from huge fires across the river.

MAMMAL SPECIES JAGUAR : 4 Jaguars including mother and cub from a distance, and two close up sightings at day and night. Sadly no pics as did not have the cameras ready JAGUARUNDI : Incredible 5 minute sighting. Saw from a distance of 300m on a canal bank and it literally walked right past us OCELOTS: 6 In one night including a mother and cub. We searched again on the 2nd night and not a single sighting. LOWLAND TAPIR: One brief sighting at night in forest. COLLARED ANTEATER: 1 Sighting at night. This was our first encounter of this species in 12 trips. LESSER GRISON: Seen crossing the road in agricultural fields on route to the property. First ever encounter of this species in this region. BOLIVIAN RED HOWLER MONKEY: A few small groups on route and inside the property. Less than usual. BLACK TAILED MARMOSET: Large group in daytime. Only second recording of this species on the property. WHITE LIPPED PECCARIES: brief sighting in Soya fields, first ever recording of this species in this region. COLLARED PECCARIES: 2 sightings in Soya Fields and forested road CAPYBARA: In plague proportions, everywhere BROWN THROATED 3 TOED SLOTH: 4 Sighted in trees on route and inside property. SOUTH AMERICAN : 2 LARGE FAMILY GROUPS RECORDED. Less than normal MARSH DEER: Around 10 sighted. Less than usual and only one large male recorded CRAB EATING : Over 10 sighted at night and day. 6 Banded Armadillo: 1 Seen running across the road on departure back to Santa Cruz
