  • THE ROLE of HISTORICAL SCIENCES on the DEVELOPMENT of URBAN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION in 21St CENTURY INDONESIA
THE ROLE OF HISTORICAL SCIENCES ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF URBAN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN 21st CENTURY INDONESIA 1 Muhammad Luthfi Lazuardi, 2 Moses Glorino Rumambo Pandin 1 2 Faculty of Humanities, Airlangga University [email protected]; [email protected] ABSTRACT Public transportation is one of the most critical needs for a city, including in Indonesia. The fast and dynamic movement of society makes public transportation expected to accommodate the needs of city residents to move more quickly and efficiently. Available public transport can also reduce congestion because many city residents are switching from their private vehicles. Many cities in Indonesia are competing to develop their public transportation to modernize the life of the town. Problems will arise if the city government does not learn from history in planning the development of public transport in the city. This study aims to examine the role of historical science in the development of urban public transportation in Indonesia. The method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative through literature review by analyzing data and information according to the topic of the research topic. The data and information are sourced from 20 journal articles and five credible online portal sites with published years between 2019-2021. The result of this study is the role of historical science in the development of urban public transportation in Indonesia as a reference for city governments to reorganize their transportation systems in the future. This research has research limitations on the development of urban public transport in Indonesia in the 21st century.

251 Simposium I JaringanPerguruan Tinggi untuk Pembangunan Infrastruktur Indonesia, 2016 Sources of Funds in Light Rail Transit Financing Wuri Anny Yumantini1,2, Ayomi Dita Rarasati1,2*, Jachrizal Sumabrata1,2 1Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, Kampus UI Depok, Jawa Barat 16424, Indonesia 2Center for Sustainable Infrastructure Development, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, Kampus UI Depok, Jawa Barat 16424, Indonesia Abstract The construction of Light Rail Transit (LRT) infrastructure requires a large amount of funding, larger than the existing Regional Budget (APBD), and therefore requires a funding scheme with high financial feasibility to cover this financial gap. This research is aimed at identifying and determining suitable sources and their respective proportion for such scheme using secondary data from literature study and records on the capacity of funding sources, and primary data from in-depth interviews, descriptive analysis and analysis on the capacity of each funding source. It is expected that the result of this research can identify feasible sources of funding and their proportion to be applied in the construction of LRT. Keywords:Source of Funding; Project Financing;Light Rail Transit Introduction One way to reduce traffic congestion due to the growing number of private vehicles is to provide an efficient means of public transportation to move a large number of passengers within the city. Common modes consist of buses, trains and informal means operating based on demand without a fixed route [1]; however, the availability of railway-based mass rapid public transportation system in Indonesian cities can further assist towards reducing this congestion[2].Cities such as Jakarta, Palembang, Surabaya, Semarang, Makassar and Medan are currently designing and constructing one of such systems, namely the Light Rail Transit (LRT).
