Jubilate Deo Youth Schola!

Who? Girls and boys with unchanged voices in grades 2 – 12 who meet together to learn and sing the sacred music of the Church What? A schola (“school of singers”) dedicated to the musical treasures of the Church. We are not your typical youth ! Where? The Basilica of Peter and Paul in Chattanooga When? Classes meet Fridays from 4:15 – 5:30 pm*, usually in Varallo Hall. * On First Fridays and all Fridays of , the youth are invited at the end of class to participate in and sing for the 5:30 Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. NEW students: Classes start Friday, August 16 at 4:15pm Returning students: Classes start Friday, September 6 at 4:15 pm The schola normally sings during two Sunday Masses each month, and special celebrations. Why? ✓ To discover the sung prayer of the Church that has sustained us since Biblical times

✓ To explore our musical heritage of Gregorian , hymns, and classical sacred songs

✓ To develop your singing voice to your God-given potential

✓ To learn how to sight-sing chant notation and modern notation

✓ To engage in the Holy Sacrifice of the through singing

✓ To experience the beauty of the ancient and modern Mass and traditional Catholic devotions

✓ To serve God and His Church We have discovered a great treasure and we want to share it! Enrichment for all ages and all levels to enjoy! Come, learn, sing! Give joy to God! Jubilate Deo! How Much Does it Cost? When you first join, we ask each family to purchase a chant CD for $20. There is also a $40 fee per student for the school year ($100 family cap). If this is cost-prohibitive, inquire about a parish subsidy.
