Call to Worship

Leader: The voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning.

People: The voice of the Lord shakes the desert; the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.

Leader: The voice of the Lord twists the oaks and strips the forests bare and in His temple all cry, “Glory!”

People: The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever.

ALL: The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.

** Glorifying God in Song Come, Thou Almighty King Hymn #101

** The Invocation

** The Apostles’ Creed “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy church, the of , the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.”

The First Scripture Lesson

Hear what the Lord says to you, O house of Israel. This is what the Lord says: "Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified by them. For the customs of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel. They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter. Like a scarecrow in a melon patch, their idols cannot speak; they be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good." No one is like you, O Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power. Who should not revere you, O King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you. (Jeremiah 10:1-7)

The Confession of Our Sins

“Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles, “Peace I give to you; my peace I leave with you:” Forgive us all our sins and strengthen the faith of your children, and give to us the peace and unity of that heavenly city, where with the Father and the Holy Spirit, you live and reign, now and forever. Amen.”

The Second Scripture Lesson

We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Dear children, keep yourselves from idols. (I John 5:18-21)

** Offertory Statement & Prayer of Dedication Bryan Toenes

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (James 2:14-17)

Adult Sunday School Classes

Transformed by Praise: A Study of the

John Calvin referred to the Book of Psalms as “an anatomy of all parts of the soul.” They appeal to the whole person: informing our intellect, arousing our emotions, directing our wills, and exciting our imaginations. The purpose of this class is to deepen our love for the Lord by increasing our understanding of the Psalms. We will discuss the major types of psalms and the nature of Hebrew poetry. Consideration will also be given to the theological, historical, and literary context of the Book of Psalms. Selected topics arising from the psalms are also covered. This class will be taught by Steve Strickland in the High School Library .

Walden Class: of John Study

The Walden class has been steadily working its way through the book of John. We would love to have you join us and re-discover the excitement of your faith, have fun doing it, and enjoy great discussions with the class.
