by Corey BAUMGARTNER I ron County Today As one of the main events of the Iron County Fair in Parowan, the Mud Bog Races got underway last Saturday evening. The muddy affair began with on-foot racers who enjoyed a dirty through the muddy moat to the finish line. Some more leisurely racers also took time for a detour as they engaged in mud-fights and enjoyed a free mud-bath. Eventually, the evening’s muddy main event got underway. Daring drivers behind the wheel of trucks of all types, ATV’s and Side-by-sides, each took a turn at traversing the rut (not) less traveled. To the cheers of the crowd, most vehicles escaped; proving themselves in the provoking trench while slinging sloppy mud all over the place. However, some vehicles became a prisoner of the muck and needed the assistance of the nearby excavator and its crew, who weren’t afraid of getting muddy to make the rescue. Don’t miss next weekend’s pre- mier event, the Demolition Derby at 7pm, with Mini Car races at 6pm. For more info visit: ironcountyfair.net.
