Issue 01 (2013-06-13) Huawei Proprietary and Confidential 19 Copyright © Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. NetShutdown User Manual 7 Basic Features

1. Set Script Delay. l If you set this parameter to 0, the command scripts are executed immediately after a selected event occurs. l If Script Delay is set, the NetShutdown executes command scripts after the specified delay when the selected UPS shutdown event occurs. If the event is cleared within the specified time, the timer stops and the command scripts will not be executed.

CAUTION You must evaluate the UPS battery time (depending on load) and time required for script execution before setting Script Delay. The value of Script Delay must be smaller than the UPS battery time minus time required for script execution. Otherwise, power will be off before the script execution is complete.

2. Set Script File to the directory of the command scripts.

NOTE If the NetShutdown is installed in the SUSE or Solaris OS, you need to perform the following steps to grant execute permission on the script file. a. Log in to the server where the NetShutdown is installed . b. Navigate to the directory of the script file. # cd directory of the script file c. Grant execute permission on the script file. # chmod +x script file name

Step 4 Select the Turn off the Computer check box if you want the computers or servers to be shut down when the selected events occur and set Delay Time.

This protects computers or servers from damages caused by forced shutdown.

l If you set this parameter to 0, the computers or servers are shut down immediately after a selected event occurs. l If you set this parameter to a positive value other than 0, the computers or servers will be shut down when the specified time has elapsed. If the event is cleared within the specified time, the timer stops and the computers or servers will not be shut down. l If you select both Execution Of Command File and Turn off the Computer check boxes, ensure that the value of Delay Time must be greater than the value of Script Delay plus time required for script execution. With this setting, the script execution can be finished before the computers or servers are shut down.

CAUTION You must evaluate the UPS battery time (depending on load) and time required for script execution before setting Delay Time. The value of Delay Time must be smaller than the UPS battery time minus time required for script execution. Otherwise, power will be cut off before the script execution is complete.
