    Basiskamp Stubaital GEBIED De Stubaier Alpen behoren tot de sterkst vergletsjerde gebieden van Oostenrijk. Ze liggen ten zuidwesten van Innsbruck en aan de westzijde van de autosnelweg Innsbruck - Brennero (I). In het westen grenst de gebergtegroep aan de Oetztaler Alpen en in het oosten zetten de Zillertaler Alpen de Alpenhoofdkam voort. De hoogste top in de Stubaier Alpen is de Zuckerhütl (3505 m). De belangrijkste toegang tot het gebied is het Stubaital, dat zich bij Neustift (903 m) splitst in het Ober- en het Unterbergtal. Het Stubaital zelf is behoorlijk groot, breed en lang met als grootste plaatsen Neustift en Fulpmes. Het gebied is van oudsher toeristisch heel bekend. Veel van de hutten hier hebben hun 100-jarig jubileum al gevierd. CAMPING Dit basiskamp wordt gehouden op: Camping Edelweiss Fam. Pfurtscheller Volderau 1199 A-6167 Neustift www.camping-edelweiss.com De camping ligt iets voorbij het dorpje Volderau in het Stubaital op een hoogte van 1128 meter. De camping is rustig gelegen aan een beek. De ondergrond is hoofdzakelijk gras met daartussen rotsgrond, neem hiervoor dan ook stevige haringen mee én een hamer. De plaatsen zijn weinig beschut. Honden zijn toegestaan. Er zijn 120 plaatsen op 3 ha grond. Er zijn prima douches en wastafels met warm water, toiletten, urinoirs, wasmachine, droogtrommel. Je kan koelelementen laten invriezen. Er is een textielwasplaats en een vaatwasplaats. In de kantine zijn kleine maaltijden te koop en in het restaurant op de camping kun je goed eten, campingaz is verkrijgbaar.
