Der Bergbau Hüttenberg der Österreichisch-Alpine Montan- gesellschaft erzeugt mit rund 400 Werksangehörigen jährlich etwa 170.000 t Spateisenstein-Roherz, das ohne Aufbereitung klassiert mit Bahn der Hütte in Donawitz bei Leoben geliefert wird und 32—37% Fe, 3-4% Mn und 10-12% SiOQ enthält. Die aus vielen getrennten Erzkörpern bestehende Lagerstätte liegt östlich von Hüttenberg (Bahnhof 770 m Seehöhe) im Marmor des Hüttenberger Erzberges (1354 m Seehöhe); dieser ist ein west- licher Ausläufer des Saualm-Zirbitzkogelkammes und fällt gegen Norden in den tiefen Seitengraben von Heft—Mosinz, gegen Süden in den von Lölling ab (siehe Übersicht Beilage 13, Saualpenexkur- sion und geol. Karte in Beilage 5). Seine gegen Hüttenberg gerich- tete westliche Abdachung ist der Knappenberg rund um 1000 m Seehöhe mit den wichtigsten Anlagen des Bergbaues und dem Groß- teil der Siedlungen für die meist schon durch Generationen dem Bergbau verbundene Belegschaft.     Auf Entdeckungstour rund um die Burgruine Hardegg bei Zweikirchen im Glantal Von Roland Bäck Ziel: Burgruine Hardegg oberhalb von Zweikirchen (Gemeinde Liebenfels, derzeit auch innen frei zugänglich) Anfahrt: Von Klagenfurt Nord (Lendorf oder Pitzelstätten): auf der B95 (Turracher Bundesstraße) und der L69 (Glantal Landesstraße) Richtung Liebenfels bis Zweikirchen; von St. Veit oder Feldkirchen: über die B94 (St. Veit– Feldkirchen) bis Liebenfels und ab da auf der L69 (Glantal Landesstraße) Richtung Klagenfurt bis Zweikirchen; Einfahrt bis in das Ortszentrum Ausgangspunkt: Zweikirchen, Gemeinde Liebenfels, Polit. Bez. St. Veit a. d. Glan, Ortszentrum (Kirche) Dauer: ca. 30–45 Minuten vom nachstehend beschriebenen Ausgangspunkt für den gemütlichen Aufstieg zu Fuß; vom Ort aus etwa 15 Minuten länger; die Anrainer geben gerne Auskunft über den Wegverlauf Sehenswürdigkeiten: mittelalterliche Burgruinen (Zwillingsburganlage), Kulturlandschaft mit Teichen, Blick über den Ort Zweikirchen und zum Ulrichsberg, Fernsicht ins Glantal bis zur Burg Taggenbrunn Routenbeschreibung: Nach der Einfahrt in den Ort folgt man in der Nähe des Feuerwehrhauses dem Wegweiser zur Ortschaft „Weitensfeld“ (nicht jenes im Gurktal!) und einer Hinweistafel „Pflegeheim“. Die Straße führt zuerst durch den Ort gegen den Berghang und dann steil nach links stetig auf den Berg durch Misch- und Nadelwald. Bei einer Gabelung im Wald unbedingt rechts halten bis zu einer Schranke mit einem Fahrverbotsschild. Dort besteht Parkmöglichkeit für ein bis zwei PKW‘s (in einer Ausweiche neben der Straße). Ab da geht es eine Schotterstraße entlang zu Fuß bergauf. Links oberhalb des Weges ist über einem frischen Schlag bald die Burg zu sehen. Nach einem rechts des Weges idyllisch gelegenen Bauernhaus mit Obstgarten (dem einzigen) nicht gerade weitergehen, sondern links abzweigen und nun steil bergauf wandern, bis links die Ruine zu sehen ist.

    CODIFYING JEWS: JEWS IN AUSTRIAN TOWN CHARTERS OF THE THIRTEENTH AND FOURTEENTH CENTURIES* Birgit Wiedl Jewish settlement took place rather late in the region of today’s Austria, compared to other parts of the German-speaking area, namely the cit- ies along the Rhine.1 Until the late twelfth century, Jews appear only as merchants who are passing through the country.2 Although the number of Jews dwelling in the countryside should not be underestimated, it was the (few) urban centers that attracted the majority of Jewish settlers. Full- fledged Jewish communities developed from the early thirteenth cen- tury onwards mainly in the cities in the eastern part of today’s Austria; however, the positioning of the Jewish inhabitants within the Christian surroundings, particularly with regard to their legal standing, was to be defined in a lengthy process that had only just begun. This was partly due to the equally late development of the Austrian cities and their peculiari- ties in terms of rulership. Unlike many of their neighboring cities in today’s Germany, medieval Austrian towns never managed to liberate themselves from the strong grip of their rulers.
