UGA Education Abroad in South Africa During the 2016-2017 academic year, 57 UGA students studied in South Africa. Current UGA study abroad and reciprocal exchange programs in South Africa include: Program City/Destination Focus Discover Abroad: Mayme- Study Abroad ster Botswana and South Africa Globis: Stellenbosch Study , Johannesburg, Study Abroad Abroad Program Stellenbosch Stellenbosch Student Exchange Academic Collaboration and Exchange in South Africa Between 2007 and 2017, UGA faculty collaborated with colleagues in South Africa to jointly publish 141 scholarly articles. Top areas of cooperation during this period includ- ed Ecology and Infectious Diseases. Top collaborating institutions in South Africa during this period included the and the University of .

Stellenbosch University Partnership

UGA maintains a university-wide exchange program with Stellenbosch University, one of Africa’s premier research and teaching institutions, that was initiated by the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA). Stellenbosch also hosts SPIA’s study abroad program, which focuses on South Africa’s transitions from to democracy and from economic isolation to integration into the global economy.
