She has been an academician for three decades. She has published widely, lectured at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervised a large number of postgraduate students and served as a member of the advisory board for the African Journal of Public Affairs. She was a Visiting Professor at KU Leuven University.

She is the co-Editor of the Book entitled A Multidimensional Perspective on Corruption in Africa: Wealth, Power, Religion and Democracy published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. A second book entitled Fighting Corruption in African Contexts: Our Collective Responsibility is currently in press.

She serves as Chair of the Working Group on Ethics and Culture for the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration, Member of the Advisory Committee of the Africa Centre for HIV/AIDS Management () and Unit for Sustainable Urban Governance and Innovation (University of KwaZulu-Natal).
