TERESA GANZEL

Teresa Ganzel was born in Ohio and grew up as a true Midwesterner in Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. It was in high school that she began acting in plays and also where she got her first television commercial for Arctic Cat Snowmobiles. Several more commercials followed and she then attended the prestigious Goodman Theater at The Art Institute in Chicago. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, she quickly began working in small comedic roles in television and film. One of her favorites was as The Sketch Actress in My Favorite Year. Little did she know that she would soon be doing sketch work along side the great Johnny Carson. She did the Tonight Show for the last 10 years of Johnny’s reign with over 30 appearances as The Tea Time Lady and many other sketches such as the co-anchor on Eye Witless News and The Home Shopping Show as Sheila McShallow. One of her best known film roles is Jackie Gleason’s wife “Fancy Bates” in the Richard Pryor film “The Toy”. Horror fans remember her as Jeff Goldblum’s love interest in the cult comedy “Transylvania 6-5000” Favorite television roles include Mrs. Winkler in the 13 episode “” which was Jim Carrey’s first series regular role. She was a regular with Lynn Redgrave and in “Teachers Only” and “Roxie” with Andrea Martin. She was Bill Paxton’s wife in the comedy mini- series . And one of Roseanne Barr’s football playing housewives in Summertime Switch. Fans still remember her in her first television guest starring role as “Greedy Gretchen” on “Three’s Company”. Countless other guest star roles followed in those years such as Married with Children, The Love Boat, The Show, Night Court, , , etc. Up until last month when she did the web mockumentary for the new CBS series Trial and Error. Game Show fans loved her frequent appearances on “The $25,000 Pyramid Show” where she was named one of the top 10 best players. She was a frequent guest on many other game shows like Hollywood Squares, Win, Lose or Draw, Super Password, etc. In animation she was the voice of the sexy “Miss VaVoom” in “Droopy and Dripple”. She has had guest starring voice over roles in many animation series and some work in animated feature films such as Toy Story, Up, Monsters Inc. etc. Theater credits include the lead in the comedy play “Viagara Falls”. This 3 character comedy brought her to New York, Palm Springs, Arizona, Rhode Island, Canada, several cities in Florida, and yes, Niagara Falls! She got great reviews in the play Meet and Greet alongside Vicki Lewis and Carolyn Hennessey. This lead to the recent New York workshops with Rachel Dratch and Sherri Shepherd which hopefully will lead to more productions. She begins rehearsals for the new play The Furniture in April directed by Hollywood Legend Joel Zwick (My Big Fat Greek Wedding, etc.)
