The tour programs are designed to showcase Bali’s unique culture, heritages, handicrafts centers, culinary specialties, the beauty of nature and landscapes, temples, houses as well as the Balinese smile and hospitality. TOUR 1 Bajra Sandhi Monument Jagatnata Temple Bali Museum Discovery Shopping Mall Denpasar City, Bajra Sandhi Monument and Kuta Beach Join a full day city tour visiting some interesting heritages in Denpasar, the capital of Bali. Visit Puputan Badung Square an urban park with a very tragic and violent history. More than 100 years ago it was the site of an enormous, bloody puputan, or mass suicide ritual. It is an interesting location to learn more about the history of the Balinese and their struggles against the Dutch colonizers. Bali Museum was established in 1932 and is located next to Puputan square. The museum has the finest collections of Balinese antiquities. The stylistic simplicity of the items in its 30 collection is of particular interest. Next to the museum is Jagatnata Temple, a Hindu place for worship. The temple is beautifully designed and full of religious and artistic ornaments. Next stop at the Bajra Sandhi Monument in Renon, a symbol of Bali’s struggle for independence once the Dutch colonizers had left the country. Your lunch will be served at local restaurant. Proceed to Kuta, the most busiest tourist town on the island. Stop will be made at Discovery Shopping Mall, the only mall with a beach- front view and luxurious, classy and vibrant style, in Kuta’s prime area. Here you may find restaurants, café, bookstores, opticians, pharmacies, amusement arcades, home accessories, jewelry and international brand outlets. Barong is a lion-like creature and character in the mythology of Bali. He is the king of the spirits, leader of the good hosts, and enemy of Rangda, the demon queen and mother of all spirit guarders in the mythological traditions of Bali. The battle between Barong and Rangda is featured in the Barong dance to represent the eternal battle between good and evil. After this beautiful spectacle, drive up to Mambal where we will visit John Hardy Jewelry Workshop. This jewelry workshop was found by Canadian designer John Hardy in 1975. He visited Bali in mid-1970s and the island’s jewelry-making traditions raised his interest. He began learning the techniques of the local artisans and then developed his first pieces by applying new design concepts to traditional Balinese techniques. Here visitors can also visit a luxury artisan handycrafted gallery. Your lunch will be served at local restaurant.Next visit is the charming Taman Ayun Temple of Mengwi Empire. Built in 1634 by a King of the Mengwi Dynasty, this impressive complex stands on an island in a river, its inner temple surrounded by a moat and is part of a network of directional temples that protect Bali from evil spirits; Taman Ayun was built as a series of garden terraces with courtyards on different levels. The entire complex was designed to symbolize the mythological home of the gods, Mount Meru, floating in the sea of eternity. An eleven-tiered meru is dedicated to the rice goddess Dewi Sri. Tanah Lot will be the last stop, popular and the most photographed temples on the island for good reason. Tanah Lot means "Land in the Sea" in the Balinese language. The temple sits on a large offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the years by the ocean tide. Tanah Lot is claimed to be the work of the 16th-century Dang Hyang Nirartha. During his travels along the south coast he saw the rock-island's beautiful setting and rested there. Some fishermen saw him, and brought him gifts. Priest Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock, for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods. This full day trip lasts till late afternoon. • Manual of Palestinean Arabic, for Self-Instruction
( to ^ :3 m MANUAL OF PALESTINEAN ARABIC FOR SELF-INSTRUCTION BY H. H. SPOER M. A. PH. D. (N. Y. Univ.) B. D. (Rutgers CoU.) Sometime Fellow of The American School of Archaeology and Oriental Research in Jerusalem. AND E.^NASRALLAH HADDAD Teacher of Arabic at the Teachers' Seminary of the Syrisches Waisenhaus in Jerusalem. JERUSALEM 1909. PREFACE. stanctan The present volume has grown out of a need — which I have abundant reason to suppose that others as well as myself have experienced — for some means of acquiring a knowledge of the Arabic dialect spoken, not only in Jerusalem, but with some slight variations, in the whole of Palestine, to-day. Such manuals as already exist in English are, for the most part, adapted for the Egyptian Arabic, or for the Libanese such as is spoken in Beirut and in the north, or for other special districts, and may be misleading, especially in nomenclature, to such as have learnt no Arabic whatever; and confusing to those who, like my- self, when I came into this part of the country six years ago, are students of the classical language only. Such manuals, moreover, contain many words which occur only in modern, literary Arabic, and which, as not belonging to the vernacular and not understood by the populace, have, in this volume, been carefully excluded. I have sought to adapt this work to the Arabic student interested in the dialect as such, as well as to those requiring the language for daily use iu Palestine ; also to the passing traveller seeking to make himself understood, and to understand those about him.

  • ALILA EXPERIENCE Real! Original! Traditional!
ALILA EXPERIENCE Real! Original! Traditional! These three words are becoming very synonymous with East Bali. The simplicity of the folk around, the relatively un-spoilt and age old traditions, the smiling faces, the swaying palms and narrow streets with paddy and volcanoes as backdrops, East Bali & Alila Manggis are Surprisingly Different. Travelling to a new place is a journey undertaken to learn about that place, the people, the culture, the food and some of the more down to earth ways in which they may live. It is said, “Experiences provide happy memories that outlive those material things and possessions, it is indeed the key to emotional wellbeing” – a philosophy by which Alila creates. Keeping this in mind, we have compiled some experiences and journeys, packed with the option to just laze around or indulge in different activities that would take you from ancient palaces to cycling down a volcano to driving through streets surrounded by paddy fields and local people, to learning how to fish and cook like the Balinese. Some interesting dining experiences at Seasalt Restaurant or at our Organic garden nearby are also available. Alila Manggis is located in the village of’ Manggis, the Balinese name for the exotic ‘Mangosteen’ fruit that is purple and hard skinned on the outside with white fleshy segments inside.A secret you may not known about the Mangosteen. Is that it contains Xanthones, a powerful anti-oxidant that makes it rich in medicinal properties. These are found in some rain forest plants but nowhere are they in greater abundance than in the rind or the pericarp of the Mangosteen.
