It is important to drink plenty of clear fluids over the next several days.

Your physician may have used the to break up the ureteral stone. In this case you may notice tiny stone fragments like grains of sand in your . You will be given a strainer and cup to collect your stone fragments which you will take to your follow up physicians appointment.

Your physician may have placed a stent in your to keep the ureter open and allow it to drain the urine and stone fragments. Whether or not you have a stent you can expect to feel the urge to urinate more frequently and may experience a burning sensation with urination. The presence of the stent may cause some level of discomfort in certain individuals but this is usually alleviated after 24 hours. It is normal to see in your urine after this procedure which may last for several days.

Ureteral spasms may occur following this procedure and can be very uncomfortable. Therefore, it is very important for you to take any pain medication the physician has given you regularly and as directed.

You will be advised by your physician when to resume taking any blood thinning products and other medications.

If you have severe pain, are unable to urinate, experience any nausea/vomiting/chills or develop a fever greater than 100.5 F please contact your physician.
