After 1939, Roland appeared in over sixty films with star billing, in which he either portrayed either leading man or major supporting character. Important Roland films included roles in such films as, "My Six Con- victs", Columbia Pictures (1952); "The Bad and the Beauti- ful", MCM (1953); "Cheyenne Autumn", Warner Bothers (1964); and "Islands in the Stream", Paramount Pictures (1976). During the 1960's and 70's he also appeared in Italian produced western films. Weliliked in the film industry and admired by his fellow film stars, Roland haslived an interesting and active personal life, filled with the vitality which he also brought so well to his screen roles.
