2019 LONTAR CATALOGUE 2019 THE LONTAR FOUNDATION Since its establishment in 1987, the Lontar Foundation of Jakarta has carried on its shoulders the mission of improving international awareness of Indonesian literature and culture, primarily throught the publication of Indonesian literary translations. Lontar’s Publications Division, the backbone of the organization, has the significant task of determining which literary works are to be translated so as to reflect Indonesia’s cultural wealth. The Lontar Foundation publishes books under four imprints: Lontar, BTW, Amanah, and Godown. All titles released prior to 2002 (when Godown and Amanah were established) carried the Lontar imprint. TABLE OF CONTENTS Titles released under the Lontar imprint are primarily translations of Indonesian literature. (Exceptions include large-format books that embody Lontar’s mission of enhancing international knowledge of Indonesian culture.) The Imagery In Perihal Gendis Poetry Book By Sapardi Djoko Damono And Its Application As Drilling Material For Literature Learning In High School Krisna Wijayakusuma1, Teguh Supriyanto2, Mukh Doyin3 {[email protected], [email protected], [email protected]} Postgradute Program of Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia1,2,3 Abstract. The researcher examined the imagery in Perihal Gendis book poetry that was classified as the most recent poems written by Sapardi. This study aimed at (1) analyzing the imagery used by Sapardi in Perihal Gendis poetry book. (2) describing the application of the findings as drilling material for literature learning in Grade X of High School. This is a qualitative research with a stylistic approach. The research data were acquired from Perihal Gendis poetry book by Sapardi. The data were collected through heuristic reading and literature. According to the data analysis, there were several finding gained: (1) there were 143 imagery data found in the research. The most frequent imageries are kinesthetic imagery with 48 data found, auditory imagery with 41 data, and visual imagery with 38 data; and 2) The imagery aspects collected from Perihal Gendis poetry Book by Sapardi was applied as the drilling material for students in Grade X of High School and was administered in two steps of activities, those are exploratory skill activities and process skill activities. Moral Rebellion and Religiusity in Pious Muslim Novels: Chavchay Saifullah and Muhidin M Dahlan Review of Sociology of Literature Herdi Sahrasad1, Muhammad Ridwan2 1Senior Lecturer at University of Paramadina, Jakarta, Indonesia 2State Islamic University of North Sumatera, Indonesia [email protected] Abstract : This article argues that novelists Muhidin M Dahlan and Chapchay Syaifullah tried to make moral and religious rebellions in their work as a result of existing social conditions. They rebel against normative and established values, old order and social arrangements. They are creative in the context of literature as a fictional world built with the spirit of renewal and enlightenment. And here, imagination is a significant creative process for deconstruction and enlightenment as well as upheaval in religiosity, religious rebelion, religious dissent.In this context, Muhidin and Syaifullah novels do not place religious life as a problem solver. Borrowing Goenawan Mohamad's definition that works that can be categorized as "religious literature" are works that "place religious life as a solution to problems", it appears that Muhidin and Syaifullah's novels cannot be called "religious literature" in the conventional sense. In this case, as a religiosity rebellion - where religiosity is defined as a philosophy of life or awareness of 'His breath' in everyday life, that is an awareness that is entirely personal and because it is personal, everyone has the right to sue, question, reject or deconstruct his own religious teachings. Visual cultures have been implicated in creative policies of the state and in global cultural networks (such as the art world, film festivals and the Internet), particularly since the emergence of digital technologies. Asia is home to some of the major film, television and video industries in the world, while Asian contemporary artists are selling their works for record prices at the international art markets. Visual communication and innovation is also thriving in transnational networks and communities at the grass-roots level. Asian Visual Cultures seeks to explore how the texts and contexts of Asian visual cultures shape, express and negotiate new forms of creativity, subjectivity and cultural politics. It specifically aims to probe into the political, commercial and digital contexts in which visual cultures emerge and circulate, and to trace the potential of these cultures for political or social critique. 484 WacanaWacana Vol. Vol.14 No. 14 2No. (October 2 (October 2012): 2012) 484–489 OBITUARY 485 OBITUARY In memoriam Professor Emeritus Andries Teeuw Gorinchem, 12 August 1921 – Leiden, 18 May 2012 Sapardi Djoko Damono Faculty of Humanities University Of Indonesia It is the poem itself that matters, not the method that I use to scrutinize it (Teeuw, Suspended by words, 1980). The doctoral thesis written by Andries ‘Hans’ Teeuw at the University of Utrecht is Het Bomakawya; Een oud Javaans gedicht (The Bomakawya; An old Javanese poem). It indicates that his first interest in literary studies is old Javanese literature. For most of us, Teeuw will be memorized as one of a small number of foreign notables in that field; he had taught, given lectures, written books, and promoted a number of Indonesian scholars not only in the field of classical studies but also in diverse fields such as linguistics, history, oral tradition and modern literature. His interest in Indonesian culture in general and literature in particular grew strongly when he came to Indonesia in the period of 1945-1947 to conduct a research on classical Javanese literary work. He had the chance to develop his interest further during his second stay, after gaining his doctoral degree, in Indonesia as a visiting professor at the University of Indonesia in the period of 1950-1951.
