Club—Alev raced for the Joulu Skiclub and the Estonian National Team before coming to Colorado. He participated in the World Ski Championships in Lahti, Finland on Feb. 25, 2017, finishing 15th in the 15K Skiathlon. He also won seven European Forestman’s Championships and competed in the sprint classic final at the World Cup held in Drammen on March 8, 2017. In the Estonian National Championships on Feb. 12, 2017, he placed fourth in the 15K classical race held in Otepää. At the Austrian National Championships in Ramsau am Dachstein, he finished second in the 10K freestyle pursuit and also placed second in the 15K classic. He had a ninth-place showing in the 15K freestyle mass start in the Alpen Cup held in Goms, Switzerland on Dec. 18, 2016. On Feb. 15, 2014 at the Latvia National Championships in Priekuli, he won the 10K classic race. In January of 2013 he was with the Estonian Junior National Team competing at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic and placed 20th in the 10K freestyle and 27th in the skiathlon. High School—He graduated from Audentes Sports School in June 2013. In The Classroom—He is an open option major at Colorado. Personal—Alev was born May 25, 1993 in Parnu, Estonia. His hobbies include skiing and watching soccer. In 2017 he placed fifth in the 30K skate at the U23 Norwegian National Championships and that same year in a FIS race at Aasen, Norway, he placed 10th in the same event. High School—He graduated from Norges Toppidrettsgymnas High School in Lillehammer, Norway in June 2014. In The Classroom—He is majoring in economics at Colorado. (Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy/Ski & Snowboard Club Vail) Top Career Classical Finish: 14th (2017 Utah Invitational) Top Career Freestyle Finish: 14th (2016 New Mexico Invitational) 2 Letters; 2015 as a freshman, 2016 as a sophomore Career at Colorado—Now the lone senior on the men’s Nordic team; he has finished 28 of the 30 races excluding the NCAA Championships over the past three seasons for the Buffs. 2017 (Junior)—He finished 8-of-9 races on the season in addition to competing in the mixed gender relay that was a part of the Seawolf Invitational. His top finish came in the first meet of the season in Utah, as he placed 14th in the classical sprint race at Soldier Hollow Resort. That was his only top 20 finish of the season and his best finish in any classic race in his career. At the 2017 RMISA Championships in Minturn, Colo., he placed 24th in the 10K classical and 26th in the 20K freestyle skate. 2016 (Sophomore)—He competed in and finished nine races including the RMISA Championships in both disciplines, with his top finish at regionals in classical. He was a part of the 2016 RMISA Championship Nordic team, finishing 23 at regionals in classical. His highest finish of the season was a 14th- place showing in freestyle at the New Mexico Invitational, helping CU to a first-place Nordic finish. His top classical finish was 17th at the Montana State Invitational, helping the men’s team to a first-place finish there as well. The men’s Nordic team won three of its six meets during the season. 2015 (Freshman)—For his first year with the Buffs, he competed in and finished 10 races with one top 20 finish when he placed 20th in classical at the Utah Invitational. He was a finalist for the CU Male Freshman Athlete of Year. Club—He skied for Ski and Snowboard Club Vail from 2012-14, the Rocky Mountain Junior National Team from 2009-14 and the Crested Butte Winter Sports Club from 2005-11. He participated in Super Tour races at West Yellowstone and had nine wins. He placed 13th in the freestyle race in a Super Tour race in 2013 and he was the top Rocky Mountain Junior Division Qualifier four out of five years from 2010-14. High School—He graduated from Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy in May 2014 and also attended the Crested Butte Community School. He participated on the varsity Nordic skiing, track & field and mountain biking teams throughout high school. He was part of the mountain biking Colorado state championship team in 2012. He was on the All-State team and placed second at the Colorado State Championships in 2012. He placed 13th in the freestyle race in Nordic at the State Championships. SEASON-BY-SEASON RESULTS In 2012 at Crested Butte Community School, his cross country running team won the State Championship and in 2013 his Ski and Snowboard Club Vail was named the USSA Team of the Year. 2017 CL FS He was a member of the All-State Cross Country team in 2010-11 as a freshman and sophomore Utah Invitational 14 37 and his freshman year he was an All-American in the 5K freestyle.
