Zone Notification Unofficial Translation 1 (1-3-2017) The Republic of the Union of Myanmar Myanmar Investment Commission Notification No. 10 / 2017 The 11th of Waning of Dapotwe, 1378 ME (22nd February 2017) Designation of Development Zone 1. The Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Myanmar Investment Commission in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 100 (b) of Myanmar Investment Law, with the approval of Union Government, issued this notification to specify Less Developed Regions as Zone 1, Moderate Developed Regions as Zone 2 and Developed Regions as Zone 3 as follows for the purpose of income tax exemption and relief as This research used both primary and secondary data. The primary data were collected by interviewing with farmers from 5 groups of villages. The sample size includes 150 farmers (6% of the total farmers of each village). Survey was conducted by using structured questionnaires. Descriptive analysis and linear regression methods are used. According to the farmer survey, the household size of the respondent is from 2 to 8 members. Average numbers of farmers are 2 farmers. Duration of farming experience is from 11 to 20 years and their main source of earning is farming. Their living standard is above average level possessing own home, motorcycle and almost they owned farmland and cows. The cultivated acre is 30 acres maximum and 1 acre minimum. Average paddy yield per acre is around about 60 bushels per acre for rainy season and 100 bushels per acre for summer season.

    Nr. 911 26. október 2009 REGLUGERÐ um þvingunaraðgerðir varðandi Mjanmar (Búrma). 1. gr. Almenn ákvæði. Með reglugerð þessari eru sett ákvæði um þvingunaraðgerðir varðandi Mjanmar sem íslensk stjórnvöld hafa ákveðið að framfylgja á grundvelli yfirlýsingar ríkisstjórna aðildarríkja Evrópu- sambandsins og Fríverslunarsamtaka Evrópu um pólitísk skoðanaskipti, sem er hluti samningsins um Evrópska efnahagssvæðið, sbr. lög nr. 2/1993. Þvingunaraðgerðir Evrópusambandsins varðandi Mjanmar byggja á sameiginlegri afstöðu ráðs Evrópusambandsins 2006/318/CFSP frá 27. apríl 2006 ásamt síðari breytingum, uppfærslum og viðbótum: sameiginleg afstaða 2007/750/CFSP, 2008/349/CFSP, 2009/351/CFSP og 2009/615/CFSP. Gerðir Evrópusambandsins, þ.m.t. uppfærðir listar yfir aðila og hluti sem þvingunaraðgerðir beinast að eða varða, eftir því sem við á, eru birtar á vefsetri þess (http://ec.europa.eu/external_relations/cfsp/sanctions/index_en.htm). Ákvæði reglugerðar nr. 119/2009 um framkvæmd alþjóðlegra þvingunaraðgerða skulu gilda um framkvæmd reglugerðar þessarar. 2. gr. Vopnasölubann. Vopnasölubann skal gilda gagnvart Mjanmar, sbr. 1. og 2. gr. 2006/318/CFSP og síðari breyt- ingar, uppfærslur og viðbætur. 3. gr. Viðskiptabann. Bannað er að selja, útvega, yfirfæra eða flytja út búnað eða tækni til fyrirtækja í Mjanmar sem stunda eftirgreindan iðnað ef sá búnaður eða tækni tengist starfsemi þeirra: a) skógarhögg og timburvinnslu, b) námuvinnslu gulls, tins, járns, kopars, volframs, silfurs, kola, blýs, mangans, nikkels og sinks, c) námuvinnslu og vinnslu eðal- eða hálfeðalsteina, þ.m.t. demanta, rúbínsteina, saffíra, jaði- steina og smaragða. Bannað er að kaupa, flytja inn eða flytja til landsins eftirgreindar vörur frá Mjanmar: a) trjáboli, timbur og timburvörur, b) gull, tin, járn, kopar, volfram, silfur, kol, blý, mangan, nikkel og sink, c) eðal- eða hálfeðalsteina, þ.m.t.

The successful planning and implementation of the census activities, followed by the timely release of the provisional results in August 2014 and now the main results in May 2015, is a clear testimony of the Government’s resolve to publish all information collected from respondents in accordance with the Population and Housing Census Law No. 19 of 2013. It is my hope that the main census results will be interpreted correctly and will effectively inform the planning and decision-making processes in our quest for national development. The census structures put in place, including the Central Census Commission, Census Committees and Offices at all administrative levels and the International Technical Advisory Board (ITAB), a group of 15 experts from different countries and institutions involved in censuses and statistics internationally, provided the requisite administrative and technical inputs for the implementation of the census.

Democracy is “a form of government in which the ​ people have the authority to choose their governing legislation.” However, the values and standards of democracy have not yet been established in Burma and the people’s authority over their daily lives and fundamental rights is fading. It is clearly shown that Burma is deviating from the path of democracy as those who exercise their right to freedom of speech and expression which is a fundamental right in democratization, face not only oppression and restrictions but arbitrary detentions and arrests. This September, freedom of speech and expression became more severely restricted. A total of 34 students and members of student unions from Rangoon, Mandalay, Meiktila Monywa, Pakokku and Pyay Townships were charged under Section 19 of PAPPL or Section 505(a)(b) of the Penal Code or Section 25 of the Natural Disaster Management Law for staging protests in related to the conflict in Arakan. Among them, 23 students were formally arrested and one was sentenced. In addition to this, four civilians were arrested. Moreover, Sithu Aung a.k.a Saung Kha was fined under Section 19 of PAPPL for protesting to reinstate internet services in Arakan and Chin states.
