Green House Gas Emissions (GHG)
Reducing the impact of Green House Gas Emissions (GHG) from our production activity is a high priority for OSI. Here we respectfully present the results from our American facilities, operating as OSI Industries, LLC, for the most recent year available, 2016.
Reporting Year: January 01, 2016 – December 31, 2016 Definitions: Taken from the Green House Gas Protocol Basis: Seven (7) Food Production facilities in the USA
Scope One – Direct Emissions Stationary Combustion Including Natural Gas and Fuel Oil – 5,526 Metric Tonne
Fugitive gasses – namely, CO2 used for Product Chilling – 8,608 Metric Tonne Scope Two – Indirect Emissions Emissions incurred through the production of energy consumed at our facilities – 141,901 Metric Tonne Total GHG Emissions for 2016: 156, 083 Metric Tonne GHG average per Facility: 22,297 Metric Tonne Overall Intensity Metric for GHG: 0.50 Metric Tonne of GHG emitted per Metric Tonne of Food Product Produced
Using 2012 as a baseline, OSI Industries’ stated goal was to achieve a 5% reduction in GHG Emissions by 2020.

Comments: Significant changes have occurred in the products manufactured and conversion procedures and processes that skew the comparison over time, as more value-added (and thus, energy intense) products have been required by our customers since 2012. If that had not been the case, the savings noted below may have been even higher. Considering Intensity, the reduction in GHG emissions over the same period was -34.4%
Based on these numbers, we have exceeded our GHG emissions reduction goal a full three years earlier than our stated target.
