**MARY FISHER, AIDS QUILT SCHEDULED FOR USD'S AIDS AWARENESS WEEK Mary Fisher, founder of the Family AIDS Network, Inc., and The NAMES Project: AIDS Memorial Quilt will appear at USO during AIDS Awareness Week February 14 through 19.. · _. _ . Four "12"-x:-12' panels of The AIDS :.H-amorial Quilt will be on display in the Hahn University Center February 14 through 16. Mary Fisher will speak twice on February 15: at 11:30 a.m. in the Hahn University Center and at 7 p.m. in Shiley Theatre. Fisher, an HIV-positive mother of two, spoke at the Republican National Convention in August on the topic of AIDS awareness. From February 11 through 28, "This Is Our Yard," an exhibit about people affected by AIDS, will be on display in Serra Hall.

**EDUCATION EXPERT DISCUSSES •AGGRESSIVENESS AND ADOLESCENTS" Dr. Eleanor Guetzloe, the first-ever recipient of USD's DeForest L. Strunk Endowed Chair in Special Education, will discuss "Aggressiveness and Adolescents" in a free public lecture on Thursday, February 11, at 7 p.m. in the Manchester Executive Conference Center. Guetzloe, a professor at the University of South at St. Petersburg, is considered to be one of the nation's foremost experts on suicide prevention, aggression, and the education of students with emotional and behavioral disorders. "We are excited to have Dr. Guetzloe in residence here this semester," said Edward DeRoche, Dean of USD's School of Education. "Her knowledge will certainly enrich our special education program."

**"POLITICS OF PAIN MANAGEMENT" IS FOCUS OF NURSING LECTURESHIP New federal guidelines have been passed to help direct U.S. health care practitioners in the effective management of acute pain. How were these guidelines enacted and how will they work? Dr. Christine Miaskowski, a UC San Francisco nursing professor who helped write the guidelines, will address these issues in a lecture entitled "The Politics of Pain Management: The Role of Clinical Practice Guidelines" on Tuesday, February 16, at 4 p.m. in the Manchester Executive Conference Center. The free public lecture is sponsored by USD's Philip Y. Hahn School of Nursing and Zeta Mu Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau.

**CALLING ALL ENGINEERS: USO HOLDS 1993 WALK-ON-WATER CONTEST Engineers and engineering students are invited to test their design skills in the second annual "Walk On Water" competition t ~ University of &n Diego AlcalaParlc • San Diego• 92110 USD MONTHLY TIPSHEET FEBRUARY 1993 (continued) sponsored by USD's Department of Electrical Engineering. Contestants must design human-powered buoyancy shoes and use them to traverse the surface of the Olympic-sized swimming pool at the USD Sports Center. The competition, scheduled for Saturday, February 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be held to help promote National Engineering Week (February 14 - 20). "This contest is our way of showing that engineering is a lot of fun," said Barbara Hammack, chair of the student organizing committee. "Engineers love a challenge, especially when it involves having a good time •."
