HULL IDENTIFICATION ASSIGNMENT

READ THE REqUIREMENTS CAREFULLY BEFORE AFFIXING THE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER TO THE WATER­ CRAFT DESCRIBED ABOVE: The number assigned to the above described watercraft is: :~~=ll==U=_-- I 1 The requirements for attaching your Hull Identification Number (HIN) to your watercraft are as follows: 1. When affixing the above number to your watercraft be careful to use the digits exactly as given so that your title and/or registration record will describe your watercraft and prove ownership and/or registration. 2. The characters of each HIN must be no less than one-fourth of an inch high. 3. Two identical HINs are required on each watercraft hull. A duplicate HIN must be affixed in a hidden location on the interior of the watercraft, under a fitting or item of hardware. 4. Each HIN must be carved, burned, stamped, embossed, molded, bonded, or otherwise permanently affixed to the watercraft so that alteration, removal, or replacement would be obvious. If the number is on a separate plate, the plate must be fastened in such a manner that removal would normally cause some sort of scarring of or damage to the surrounding hull area. A HIN must not be attached to parts of a watercraft that are removable. 5. This HIN may not be attached to any other watercraft. 6. The primary HIN must be affixed: a. On watercraft with transoms, to the starboard outboard side within two inches of the of the transom, , or hull/ joint, whichever is lowest. b. On watercraft without transoms or watercraft on which it would be impractical to use the transom, to the starboard outboard side, , within one foot of the and within two inches of the hull side, gunwale or hull/deck joint, whichever is lowest. c. On catamarans and pontoon boats whi ch have readily repl acement hull s, to the aft crossbeam within one foot of the starboard hull attachment. d. If a HIN would be obscured by rails or other accessories, it must be affixed as near as possible to the location specified.
