On behalf of UNICEF UK, I am writing tojsay that we would bejionoured if you would consider delivering the 2007 UNICEF UK Annual Lecture next summer. "~ ~ ~~

I was privileged to hear your forthright speech at the UNA'S 60th Anniversary event in Central Hall and am convinced a UNICEF UK lecture by you would have a profound impact at a very critical time here.

The lecture takes place in a central London venue, hosted by our President Lord Puttnam, before an invited audience of some 400 leading opinion-formers, business people, international development organisations, Members of Parliament, government officials and national and international media. The proposed date is Wednesday 4 July 2007, but we can be flexible to suit your availability in July or September 2007.

I understand that you prefer not to make any commitments until after a well-earned three month break at the beginning of next year. This would mean a fairly tight timetable for us. We contemplated making the invitation for 2008, but feel that the coincidence of the timing of your being "released" to speak personally with the start of our first new Government for a decade was too good an opportunity to miss.
