One of them is to provide app-based COVID-19±related services to the public. As the pandemic continues, a need for various apps has emerged, including COVID-19 apps that can support activities aimed at overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic. Objective: We aimed to determine which apps were considered the most necessary according to users and evaluate the current status of the development of COVID-19±related apps in South Korea. We also aimed to determine users'acceptance and concerns related to using apps to support activities to combat COVID-19. Methods: We collected data from 1148 users from a web-based survey conducted between November 11 and December 6, 2020. -

BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION AMERICAN AND KOREAN LANDSCAPES OF KOREAN International Voices in Biblical Studies In this first of its kind collection of Korean and Korean American Landscapes of Korean biblical interpretation, essays by established and emerging scholars reflect a range of historical, textual, feminist, sociological, theological, and postcolonial readings. e-Learning for Lifelong Learning 05 in South Korea February 2010 Institute of Distance Education Korea National Open University ■Min-Seung Jung is an associate professor in the Department of Education at Korea National Open University. Dr. Jung holds her doctoral degree in Education from Seoul National University(Ph. D and M. Ed.), and teaches several subjects such as ‘Lifelong Learning’, ‘Feminist Pedagogy’, and ‘Development and Education’, and ‘Social Movement and Lifelong Learning’. She has joined in the National Research Foundation of Korea, the Korean Society for Lifelong Education, the Korean Society for the study of Anthropology of Education, National Institute for Lifelong Educationas an executive member. She has published articles centered on the critical approaches of adult learning and cyber-culture, and books including Internet as a space of learning, and Researching Adult Education. She is presently researching the characteristics of adult students with Dr. Kasworm of North Carolina State University, and Korean immigrants’ intercultural learning process in University of North Carolina Asia Center as a visiting scholar. ■Kyoung-Ae Choi has been working as an associate professor and the head of Department of Educational Technology in Cyber Graduate School, Joongbu University. Dr. Choi, graduated Seoul National University(Ph. D and M. Ed.), had an experienceto work for Korea National Open University (KNOU) as a researcher. Now she teaches several subjects such as ‘Understanding Distance Education’, Systems Approach to Instructional Design’, ‘Quality Management of Distance Education’. With regard to research, her main concern is to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in traditional or technol- ogy-based environment. -

Alawi 1 Hayla Alawi Pamela J Mackintosh Undergraduate Research Award May 8th, 2020 Jeju Island, the Three Clans Myth, and Women Divers: Female Importance in Jeju’s Cultural History Introduction Jeju1 Island, officially the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, lies 90 kilometers off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula and forms a province of South Korea. It is an interesting place, considered by many historians to be unique from mainland Korea before it was absorbed into the larger state, with fascinating cultural phenomena and a murky past. Although there is not much scholarship on the early history of Jeju2 and little in the written record about the island, it is possible to theorize what early Jeju cultural history may have looked like through a combined examination of the island’s mythology and modern-day culture. To gain a greater understanding of what early Jeju human culture may have looked like, I will examine the Myth of the Three Clans of Jeju Island, Jeju’s most prominent foundation myth. It is not the only foundation myth originating from the Korean Peninsula, but it is unique in that it features a key reversal between the roles of men and women in a narrative that is otherwise similar to other Korean foundation myths, the rest of which are found on mainland Korea. Myths can be thought of as reflecting a people’s society, culture, and perceived history, so the nature of 1 Note on Korean romanization: both the Revised Romanization of Korean (RR) and the McCune-Reischauer (MR) systems of Korean romanization will be used in this paper. -

Cram Received: date / Accepted: date Abstract The growing influence of the idea of world-class universities and the associ- ated phenomenon of international academic rankings are intriguing issues for contem- porary comparative analyses of higher education. Although the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU or the Shanghai ranking) was originally devised to assess the gap between Chinese universities and world-class universities, it has since been credited with roles in stimulating higher education change on many scales, from in- creasing the labor value of individual high-performing scholars to wholesale renovation of national university systems including mergers. This paper exhibits the response of the ARWU indicators and rankings to institutional mergers in general, and specifically analyses the universities of France that are engaged in a major amalgamation process motivated in part by a desire for higher international rankings.
