Oral Presentations • All oral sessions will be essentially virtual meetings and conducted via Zoom. • You should pre-record your video presentation, which will be broadcasted online during the scheduled time. (Q&A will be conducted in real time. An invited speaker has an option to deliver his/her presentation in real time.) • Please adhere to the time limit for your presentation, which includes setup, presentation, and Q&A: 12 minutes for a contributed talk and 24 (or 36) minutes for an invited talk. 3 5. Poster Presentations • All poster sessions will be essentially virtual meetings and are accessible online at the KPS homepage during the Conference (Nov. 2, 12:00 ~ Nov. 6, 18:00). • All presenters are required to attend the e-Poster Online Discussion Sessions, scheduled on Nov. 5 and 6, and answer the questions through the comment window. Best Presentation Awards • The Best Presentation Awards recognize outstanding presentations made by student members and are awarded by the KPS in order to encourage students to carry out excellent research. • The Best Poster Presentation Awardee will be selected based on scientific significance and excellence of presentation and online discussion. • Every awardee will be posted in the KPS homepage for recognition just after the Conference and a certificate will be mailed to the presenter according to the mailing address of the corresponding author. 7. No-Show Policy • Presenters who do not submit the presentation materials within the deadline or do not present at the session without a call to cancel (contact info: [email protected], 02-556- 4737(ext. 5)) are considered No-Show. • In case of No-Show, the corresponding abstract will be eliminated from the program list. Like many other things in this pandemic time, this year’s IMS Presidential Address will be also somewhat different from those in the 10 IMS Awards past. Besides being virtual, it will be also given jointly by the IMS Past President Susan 11 IMS London meeting; Olga Murphy and myself. V Olomouci dne Podpis Anotace Práce se zabývá hudebním žánrem k-pop, historií jeho vzniku, umělci, jejich rozvojem, a celkovým vlivem žánru na společnost. Snaží se přiblížit tento styl, který obsahuje řadu hudebních, tanečních a kulturních směrů, široké veřejnosti. Mimo samotnou podobu a historii k-popu se práce věnuje i temným stránkám tohoto fenoménu. V závislosti na dostupnosti literárních a internetových zdrojů zpracovává historii žánru od jeho vzniku až do roku 2020, spolu s tvorbou a úspěchy jihokorejských umělců. Součástí práce je i zpracování dvou dotazníků. Jeden zpracovává názor české veřejnosti na k-pop, druhý byl mířený na českou k-pop komunitu a její myšlenky ohledně tohoto žánru. Abstract This master´s thesis is describing music genre k-pop, its history, artists and their own evolution, and impact of the genre on society. It is also trying to introduce this genre, full of diverse music, dance and culture movements, to the public.

According to world leaders’ discursive construction of South Korea, South Korea is a site of “progress” that proves the superiority of the free market capitalist system for “developing” the so-called “Third World.” Challenging this contention, my dissertation demonstrates how recent South Korean cinema made between 1998 and the first decade of the twenty-first century rearticulates South Korea as a site of economic disaster, ongoing historical trauma and what I call impassible “transmodernity” (compulsory capitalist restructuring alongside, and in conflict with, deep-seated tradition). Made during the first years after the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis and the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, the films under consideration here visualize the various dystopian social and economic changes attendant upon epidemic capitalist restructuring: social alienation, familial fragmentation, and widening economic division.
